Looking for an Expert on the 1956 Interstate Highway Bill

As you know, from another post, I'm doing a podcast on the history and routes of California ( see caroutebyroute.org ). An upcoming episode will cover the period including 1956 and the Interstate Highway bill, and I'm looking for someone to interview regarding that bill, its history, and its impact ... as well as its failures. Dan McNichol (author of The Roads that Built America ought to be a good contact.  He was an appointee in the Department of Transportation in the Bush 41 administration.  More recently, he has been involved with some big projects in California, including the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge [Eastern Span] Replacement.  He is self-described as a huge fan of Eisenhower's efforts to build the Interstate system.  Plus, he's got a website that encourages folks like you to contact him:  https://danmcnichol.com/about/

I'll think about it, but Scott and I have had some painful non-highway interactions (let's just say we're at different ends of political and religious spectrums), so I'm not sure it will work well. But who knows if we get the episode done sans interview and I'm bumping up against deadlines.
