The Holy Hamburger (Architecture, not Religion)

I searched off and on for years for just one photo of the original Catholic Church of the Magdalen (nicknamed the "Holy Hamburger") at Kellogg and Woodlawn in Wichita, but I never had any luck.  I asked a friend who's a huge architecture buff, and he found it in just a few minutes!

What's strange to me is, I thought I would have ridden by that intersection in my parents' or grandmother's car at least once while it was still there, but I have no recollection of it.  But it's possible I never did.  We would always use Central or Douglas to get from Woodlawn to Towne East Mall, because left turns were prohibited from Woodlawn onto Kellogg before they built the freeway.  (And the original Kellogg wasn't wide enough for Michigan Lefts, although two true but temporary Michigan Left Intersections did eventually come to Kellogg at Rock Road and Webb Road during the freeway construction.)

Was that at the northwest corner?  If so, it's currently a different church and also the Classical School of Wichita–at the latter of which both my parents currently teach.

Yes, the northwest corner.  You can see it on Historic Aerials as late as the year 2000.
