Perhaps long range plans call for the 44 East off-ramp to connect to Santa Fe via a flyover (hence the wide gap between the ramp from the 44 and the 77 southbound carriageway -- a new roadway would go there).

This imagery is rather far out of date. This interchange is currently under construction to eliminate some of the loop ramps (though not all of them). It already looks a lot different than that. I hardly ever have reason to get up that way, so I can't tell you exactly what is being done without looking it up.

For a bit of a laugh, look at the Bird's Eye view of I-44 at Lewis in Tulsa on Bing Maps. The Deathramp is still there.

Same with Mapquest. It also shows the businesses in between 51st Street (EB frontage road west of Lewis) and I-44. Those have been gone for several years.

See the ramp from EB 44 to SB 235? What is that little stub?

The left stub is for the future flyover ramp from I-44 EB to U.S. 77 NB. The right stub (going into 235 SB) is what's left of the former 44 EB to 235 SB ramp.

What's up with that stub on the road that heads east from 235?

This used to be the off-ramp from SB 235 to N. 50th St/Santa Fe. There was an overpass just to the west of the end of this stub that was torn down when the new ramp from 44 EB to 235 SB was built. There is no longer an exit from SB 235 to N. 50th St/Santa Fe.
