Nice pics, but that refinery is a Velero refinery, I've drove by it several times going to Choke Canyon Reservoir. But was there any particular reason you went to Corpus Christi?

oh it is?  I had forgotten.

I wanted to drive 83 along the Rio Grande.  There will be a second day with some scenery and more random signs.

As for stopping specifically in Corpus - I wanted to clinch I-37 and find that TX-44 green sign that Jeff Royston had told me about.

If you want great scenery and to drive along the Rio Grande, just drive F.M. 170 by Big Bend Nat'l Park, that road is awesome, it's though mountains, well, as close as Texas gets to mountains... But it's still a great drive.

I need to do that road again.  I traveled it in Dec 2006 and it was awesome.
