Since we're doing route numbers, let's do exit numbers as well. Let's see how many consecutive exit numbers we can find.
Rules:
1. An eligible picture is a picture of a Big Green Sign clearly showing the exit number and the target route(s) and/or destination(s). Gore signs do not count.
2. One picture per person per post.
3. When you post a valid exit sign, you must wait at least 5 numbers before you can post another valid exit sign, unless I grant you an override.
4. Google Street View is allowed. GSV images must clearly show the exit number and destination information on the sign.
5. If you have a picture that you took yourself in the wild, you can override a picture from GSV or one found by Internet search. For example, if the last number was 4, and an Exit 4 was snapped or linked from Street View, and you have your own picture of an Exit 4 sign, you can "override" the GSV image and post your picture; you do not have to advance to Exit 5.
6. Exits with two numbers count only for one number.
7. Subletters (e.g. "Exit 1A") do not matter.
We start with Exit 0 in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

3. Once you post, you must wait at least 5 numbers before you can post again, unless I grant you an override.
Clarification: Because I'm making a post now, I won't be able to post again until Exit 5 is shown? Or does the 5+ rule only apply to images?

Post a picture. There's no picture in your post. I'll clarify the rule.
In that case, have a 1.

Does the sign have to be a sign that still exists? If not, then the picture for 0 is not valid.

No, neither the sign nor the exit has to still exist. (It must have been a real exit at some point.)

What is with all of the Long Island pictures? :hmmm: (I know that it is impossible to go above 73 on Long Island).
Probably because it's easy to use numbers from NY because we're the biggest sequential state and Long Island has the highest numbers that aren't on NY 17?

That's fairly typical - usually the biggest city, or the 1st city to suffer, gets the attention. Look at McDonalds. They are hardly the only companies to have the issues they have, but they're the ones you hear about. Heck, McDonalds is known for their high-calorie, high-fat meals, but yet when you compare them to other similar places, most if not all have higher-calorie offerings. Wanna eat healthy at Panara Bread instead? Hope you jogged there...about 13 of their lunch/dinner sandwiches have more calories than the Big Mac!

By saying "old I-70" I was under the impression the post was implying that the road is not currently I-70. Maybe I misinterpreted.

That part of I-70 was decommissioned in 2014 (http://route.transportation.org/Documents/USRN%20Report%20May%2029%202014.docx), in anticipation of the now-cancelled Red Line project. It now ends 3 miles west of there, at I-695.

I think we're OK - the previous post before the 108+109 photo was 108.
Must not have been looking. The thread's been so slow that I've been concentrating more on the count of signs since I last posted and the number of the last one more than anything else.

Let's get this thread moving a bit! I looked over the counts on my thread (the route number challenge)...I found a lot of violations of the rule requiring people to space their posts apart by 10. But when you find them after the fact, eh, what can you do.

This seems more like something from the U.S. My area has signs that have no route number, but sign the direction that the road goes. I'll bet that this was made by a U.S. signmaking company.

You can have a cloverleaf interchange, or some other interchange with direction-specific ramps, to an unnumbered road. Things are spaced apart kind of oddly on the sign, but what were they supposed to do? Rules:
1. An eligible picture is a picture of a Big Green Sign clearly showing the exit number, the target route(s) and destinations. Gore signs do not count.
134 is still in play.
I'm altering the rule to specify "target route(s) and/or destination(s)." 131 is good even though it doesn't specify a destination.

The previous post also shows a scene that is dramatically different now with the reconstruction of Interstate 29 through Sioux City. The ramp for US 77 south is now part of an extended Exit 149, which factors into my post here. :sombrero:

5. If you have a picture that you took yourself in the wild, you can override a picture from GSV or one found by Internet search. ...
If it's
only GSV images that can be overridden, you should make that your rule then. I don't know how you can verify whether someone else's picture comes from a Google search or not. Does content from the AARoads site count as material which can be overridden?
My bad. Should have looked at my own rule before citing it. :pan:

Spain has some higher exit numbers. China does too, though I'm not sure how well implemented they are (and they reset at 1000km - or are meant to).
Malaysia uses a <road number><exit number> exit number style that may mean an exit 881 on phase 3 of the E8 when they build it.

The end is going to be much earlier than 880, because I-10 in Texas skips a lot of numbers before 880. We can't get to 880 if there isn't an 801 heheh.

Sorry guys, I don't take BGS photos that much, so most of the photos I have in this range are from I-80 or I-71. Here's another one from over-represented I-71 in Ohio:

Except I'm not even from Ohio lol. I just happened to take a bunch of BGS photos because I was bored in the car on the way to Cleveland for a Weird Al concert last May.
I was going to post a 210 but it's the same interchange as the one posted above for 209. Would that be acceptable? It's not the same sign assembly, though it is I-10 westbound.
I'd prefer if you didn't. Posting the same interchange twice in a row is a bit boring.
(Not to mention that I drive through that interchange almost every time I come home from New Orleans. I'm well aware of what it looks like. :) )

Interstates 75/275 north split at Exit 228 in Manatee County.
I'm waiting for these to be replaced with an APL. The Skyway closed sign was already removed when they upgraded both freeways with ITS.
The only Exit 229 I have is from I-45, and appears to be a mix of old and new in one assembly. Since this picture is almost 13 years old, I guess they'd all be kind of old by now (if still in place).

It was so small I scrolled past it in my spreadsheet without noticing. :-P

For the folks keeping score or looking for photos by location, the following states are all already out of play:
Alaska (none)
Hawaii (27)
Vermont (29)
Rhode Island (30)
New Hampshire (44)
Massachusetts (60)
Connecticut (93 / 100 until recently)

This may be me being nitpicky, but Kentucky has an exit 192, and South Carolina has an exit 221. Regardless, they're still out.
After Ohio, the next states to be out are Idaho (263), Louisiana (267), Minnesota (276), and Arkansas (281).

The first exit on I-76 in New Jersey is 354, which would be the mileage if the exit was in Penn., followed by 1C which of course is correct for New Jersey.

I'm sorry, I thought it was allowed. In fact in the first page says that is allowed, so it should be changed to avoid further misunderstandings if it's not actually allowed.

4. Google Street View is allowed. GSV images must clearly show the exit number and destination information on the sign.

Sorry for the failure to clarify the rules issues myself. I was in the hospital for two weeks and had no Internet access. (Long story short: I'm OK.)
Foreign exit signs are allowed even if they aren't green. (What's important is having an exit number, not the color.)
GSV is allowed but GSV posts can be overridden (see rule 5).

I wasn't considering Canada, as they're not under the FHWA's jurisdiction. But now that you said it, there are three provinces here that use Clearview in shields (AB, MB, NS). The others use FHWA (SK, QC) or Helvetica (BC).

Of course. But the fact that they do make's the FHWA's ban look specious.
(For the record, I drive through Baton Rouge and under those signs quite frequently. I'm less perturbed by the signs themselves than by people's reactions to them. And aside from layout issues and some major screw-ups around New Orleans, Louisiana's Clearview signs generally look pretty good.)

That picture doesn't even look real. The lighting is way off for the Clearview. And... let's face it. isn't Louisiana the only place that used Clearview digits (I'm looking at you I-10 signs)? Oregon doesn't even use Clearview.
Texas (https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=texas+130+sign&view=detailv2&&id=19F302AC05D1426BF6AC61C8E9A340B4E9733882&selectedIndex=7&ccid=5W2LiLlF&simid=607991856339485796&thid=OIP.Me56d8b88b945ea9db255f03ac229aa94o0&ajaxhist=0). And multiple Canadian provinces. (News flash: Putting Clearview digits in shields is a cardinal sin only in the minds of FHWA bureaucrats and haters.)
Didn't Michigan use Clearview numbers fairly frequently when it was brand new?

Thanks dude. I think that if people have been using photos from Gribblenation, they might not be working, as they are in the process of moving things around and dismantling their site.
If it wasn't clear before in my last post, the items in the listing with question marks "??" are the photos in question.

Updated the listing of states represented in this thread. I quoted it here for easy access. There are 7 exits with broken picture links so I can't tell what they are anymore--those are shown in red. Blue represents the first time a state makes an appearance. The pipes just divide things into sets of 5 for easier navigation.
Edit: 25 has been clarified as LA

Yep, it mentioned that on the website I got the photo from.

I went to college in southeastern Idaho and even then (early 1990s), there were still maps still had US 91 going through towns like Rexburg.
Always wondered if some of the rerouting/decommissioning was related to the Teton Flood.

Assuming I can still take advantage of the 24-hour rule, here's a thing from okroads. Thanks for the tip, Jim, that I could get one from I-35E. More representation for Eric lol

I'm surprised that this one hasn't been stolen, like any other sign with '420'. Maybe because it's not a ground-mounted sign!
Over 24 hours again, and I have two to choose from for 421. So I'll go to I-40's junction with the southern end of I-81 in Tennessee. July 10, 2008.

450 to 451 at about 3500 miles is probably one of the longer distances we've seen between consecutive numbers, at least when staying on the same continent. I don't remember if we had any Alaska numbered exits right before or after, say, one from south Florida.
I actually wouldn't have noticed that without you having pointed it out.
I have to say that i am enjoying this and some of the similar threads to it. It's fun to see where people have been, and what they have photographed along the way. That, and it's nice to actually be able to put some of the highway photos that I have taken to good use, instead of just sitting on a harddrive at home.

Wow, an actual properly-placed exit number tab on CalTrans signage. Must be a fluke.
Kind of... and the exit tab is under-sized by national standards.
A discussion I started on this sign and one other nearby can be found on the Pacific Southwest board at https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=16152.0. In this discussion, forum member and Caltrans employee jrouse sates that these external tabs are "an aberration".
I'll use one from I-75 in Florida (the last opportunity in FL, I believe) with the 24-hour rule to bring us a 467. July 3, 2012.
(https://www.aaroads.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.teresco.org%2Fpics%2Fsigns%2F20120703%2Fexit467.jpg&hash=9282b439b3f230ff3043a8efe98c0764aedf452a)
I don't have a 468. According to Travel Mapping, the Interstate system has at least three:
I-5 CA: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=37.897176&lon=-121.283865
I-20 TX: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=32.642211&lon=-96.805698
I-35 TX: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=33.215443&lon=-97.168735

It's been a long time since I've seen those smaller fonts on TX state highway signs on the BGS.
And also, this is likely my last contribution to this thread. I have no higher than exit 470. The exit I took nearly everyday from I-35 living in Denton:

Exit 471, also from I-35 in Denton, TX:

Continuing up I-35 in Texas. Same ride as my earlier ones from March 13, 2011.

No other 475s on Interstates in the Travel Mapping data.
I don't have a 476, but Travel Mapping suggests three options on CA and TX interstates:
TX/usai/tx.i010.wpt:476 http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=30.299904&lon=-99.544544
TX/usai/tx.i020.wpt:476 http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=32.678897&lon=-96.676105
CA/usai/ca.i005.wpt:476 http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=37.984572&lon=-121.343527
Exit 476 on I-20 in TX on a rainy March day in 2012:

I'll use the 24-hour rule to continue. Here's 479B on I-20 in Texas, but actually taken on I-635 where it ends at I-20 in Balch Springs. November 22, 2003.

Assuming no one will complain if I continue, since even though I posted 479, that was almost 2 weeks ago. Exit 481 on I-35 in Texas. March 13, 2011.

It's been a while...
