As promised, the posting of the November headlines was the lead in to the bigger post: the semi-periodic update to the California Highways web pages.  This took a month to work in: reviewing four months of headlines, loads of posts on AAroads, all the stuff the legislature has done, and the CTC minutes for August, October, and December. I've also started adding pictures, where I can, where there are naming resolutions – to put a face with the name. Here's the summary of the changes. Lots of interesting stuff, if you read through.

  • Going through all the headlines from August through November for updates
  • Going through all the posts on this board for updates to the pages (with credit to the original authors)
  • Going through all the emails that I received with updates
  • Going through all the legislative activity since July -- bills passed, naming resolutions, etc.
  • Going through all the CTC agendas and minutes. There are some interesting projects in there, as well as some interesting relinquishments. Bye bye, Route 84 in Fremont and Route 19 in Downey.
  • Starting a new project (not completed) to put faces with the names cited in the naming resolutions.

Folks should read through the change log, which is either posted to my blog or to the changes page on the website.

As, always (all together now): Ready, set, discuss.

Daniel, your website is a treasure. I remember staying late at work on Christmas Eve 1998, and spending hours on your website.  The time passed quickly thanks to all your hard work. I've been going to your site daily ever since.

1998? I think I started posting stuff to Usenet (anyone remember ca.driving? ca.general?) around 1994-1996, and started the website over on Pacificnet around 1996. You've been following it for a long time. Thanks for the support. [I'll note I started on Usenet around 1984-ish, back in the days when it was mostly uucp (and I was still at quad1!ucla!.... and then sdcrdcf!....)

Concrete Bob

That was the first time I was on the Internet. I went to Google, and was led to your great site almost immediately.

Just to pile on a long with Concrete Bob...  I discovered aaroads by way of misc.transport.road way back in the day.  It really is a treasure.  I'm glad that most of the contributors of that community migrated over here, there are so many names are familiar from something like 20 years ago.  It would be interesting to see nominations to a "Road Geek Hall of Fame" for all the contributions people around here have made to the hobby.
