The recent I-41 reconstruction project put concrete driving surface over the asphalt base.  The soil conditions may have called for it.

I've seen the same thing happen when they were building NC 540 just west of I-40 back in 2006.

Same thing with the eastern leg that I-840 got built.

Now the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway is experiencing the same thing.

But you added nothing to the topic of "the difference between asphalt and concrete", except to say your preference.

This is the thread you want instead.  Yes, it would still be a bump, but at least it would be more on-topic.
