What I've read about Minnie Pearl's is that there was no consistency from outlet to outlet and that the chain suffered as a result.

They were too focused on growth and not enough on product. Col Sanders perfected his product through years of work. Minnie Pearl's was "we can do that" . She was never really involved with the company, just a figurehead/spokesman.

After Harland Sanders sold KFC, he once famously went to one of their restaurants, sampled the food, and exploded in criticism. I forget everything he said, but he did famously call the mashed potatoes and gravy "sludge."

I've been accused of this many times, due to my activities trolling conspiracy theory (fantasy) pages on facebook, to which I respond "Paid?  I do this because it's fun! "
