I was so close to clinching Colorado 3, which would have helped me in this department...I should have just done it.

1 for me, since I have not clinched BC-1 or Berlin's B1, and have not been on any other Highway 1s.

You've clinched M-1 with me.

Whoops, totally forgot that was a full clinch.

1 - MI, ID
2 - WA (US), ID (US)
3 - WA
4 - WA
5 - WA (I), OR (I)
6 - OR
7 - WA
8 - WA
9 - WA
10 - WA, BC
11 - WA, BC, NV (I)

That leaves me with 12. I've got 13 through 19, so I'd be able to jump up to 20 if I get the last bit of US 12 I need in Washington.

Duke87

It appears 223 is the lowest number I do not have a full clinch of.

What is annoying is that I am exactly one block short of clinching NV 223. If I'd known when I was there...

well it wouldn't make a huge difference actually since my next missing number is 227 and while I have been on three of those (QC, IN, PA) I am nowhere near clinching any of them. Indeed, for all three, I only have a section of them that is concurrent with something else I was driving.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

I'm guessing the segment that juts out from the freeway interchange? Those are real annoying.

Everyone can count what they want of course, but I wasn't including a state's portion of a national route, i.e. US36 in Colorado, since I haven't clinched all of US36, but to each their own.

Chris

I'm not counting that either, but since US 12 goes through the four states closest to me, clinching a 12 is challenging. OH 12 isn't super far away, but I have other priorities before worrying about clinching that.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

computerfan0

I can only get as far as 3 before running into issues. Although I have never travelled to North America, I have clinched the M/N1 and M/N2 in Ireland, as well as the Northern Irish M1 and the TF-2 in Tenerife. You could argue that I have the M3 in Northern Ireland (only driven from the junction, not the actual start) but I definitely haven't clinched any road numbered 4.

I highly recommend Utah 12.  It's my favorite road I've ever driven on from end to end.  It's pretty much necessary if you ever want to reach Bryce Canyon National Park!  I also highly recommend the quintessential route down the Outer Banks, North Carolina 12.  Neither is close to your homeland, but each is worth seeing!  You might have to think of more distant pleasurable destinations if there aren't many 12s near you, anyway.

I clinched PA 339 yesterday so my new number is 411.  I do have mileage on US 411 from my trip to the south last March, but nowhere close to a clinch.

I did clinch US 411 TRUCK (Maryville, TN), but I do not include truck routes in regard to these lists.  If that counted, I would be at 429 (only clinched NY 429's concurrency with NY 31).

I think the lowest numbered route that I've actually clinched is the southern section of AR 5, although there's also a northern section so that may not count. If multiple sections don't count, I guess that would mean I-30 is the lowest route that I've clinched.
I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

Picked up Alabama 108 and 115, that puts me at 125.

I leave this up to personal interpretation - my "41" is a passel of different US 41 Business routes.

Basically, if it has a shield, and/or defined (not necessarily posted) beginning and end points, then it counts for this list. If you want to count hidden routes, that's okay too.

I was kicking myself late last summer. I drove on the tiny Colorado 3 in Durango, but I failed to get a tiny stub of it connecting to US160.  I need to gear up and find another 3 to clinch.  Watch, it'll probably be Illinois's Route 3.

And I want to know: does "clinching" mean that you have travelled entire road?

Correct. Some people have different definitions for the word (some say you have to travel the entire thing in both directions, others say you can't count it as a clinch if you exit and get back on at the same exit), but generally, the definition used by most road geeks is that you have traveled all mileage of the road.

After a recent clinch of NY76, my lowest number with no clinches is now 92

I'm not counting PA92Trk(Nicholson) or the sections of I-95(Secaucus, NJ) and AZ95(Bullhead City) that I drove.  I am utilizing some of the aforementioned cheapies, though, like a bunch of 1A's (or NH1B) and MA6A.

If I manage to pick up 92 and 95, I already have everything else up through 246.  This isn't a current priority, but maybe I'll get around to it before winter.  There are lots of decent options for 92 within a day's drive from home, but I'll probably have to go with NY for 95.
