I don't think I've seen an 8" doghouse in person. I know they're now forbidden as per the MUTCD.

Doghouses with 8" ball indications and 12" arrows used to be fairly common in NE Ohio. They've largely gone away as part of signal replacement projects, but Massillon OH still has a couple around.

The intersection of Lincoln Way E and Wales Road NE has examples for both left turn and right turn arrows. There are also two variations on how the right-side ball indications are positioned: https://goo.gl/maps/aRCEnAGJndtmdgZW8

16th St SE at Oak Ave SE used to have a back-to-back mounted set of mixed-size doghouses but it was replaced a couple years ago with separate 12" doghouses. Here's the old configuration: https://goo.gl/maps/MfRS3ZfoSmTZnJfc7

Had to be after the MUTCD banned 8" arrows.

5-section doghouse signals with 8-inch circular indications, and 12-inch arrow indications appear to be common in Burlington VT as well - as of June 11 2022, I haven't seen doghouses in other municipalities in Vermont that use this configuration - they've moved on to using FYA or use all 12-inch heads for the doghouse.

A few states down in Georgia... there are a few varients of FYA Doghouses along Piedmont Rd in Atlanta:

Left-turn FYA doghouse for shared left-thru
Right-turn FYA doghouse for shared thru-right
Left/Right-turn FYA doghouse (Prot Left, Perm Right). Not sure if these doghouses give an overlap with the perpendicular compatable left.

Oh yes, the doghouse FYAs on Piedmont. They are apparently not MUTCD compliant as there is no dedicated left turn lane for them.

Off topic, but I hate that road. There is always a ton of traffic trying to turn left at those flashing yellows and a ton of oncoming traffic, and because there aren't any turn lanes it clogs up the highway. Then when someone gets sick of waiting to turn left and decides to bail, they'll inevitably get in an accident with a car that they didn't see driving way too fast up the middle lane. One of the many things I don't miss about driving in Atlanta.

Bumping topics (responding to a post older than 120 days) is highly discouraged. Topics should only be bumped if there is new and relevant information to add (such as a old topic on a proposed construction project, where construction has recently begun).
