Oscar using county routes is like hearing Barry Bonds used steroids.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

Ouch.

To be honest, I'm just joshing people over using county routes, even though I am sticking to state routes in a loose sense (e.g., I count TX Farm to Market routes and WV/VA secondary routes -- as long as they're shielded.  Stupid little rectangles on stop sign poles don't count. :D).

I'm trying to avoid the little half-mile numbered county roads but if Oscar gets to 600, then I'll have no choice but to deploy the Cullman County Nuclear Option.

:-D  :-D

It'd be fun to also compare the lowest-numbered route you've yet to clinch. For me, it seems to be 3, but could easily rise to 6 or 14 with another in-state trip.

Mine will probably always be 12. Because US 12 exists in the four states closest to me, there is no state highway 12 in any of those states, so I'd either have to clinch the entire US 12 to find some other state with a state highway 12.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Please keep the clinching talk to the other thread rather than cluttering this one up.

Looks like once I complete my trip coming up, I'll be moving all the way up to 361, minus one stupid number, 272.  There is a 272 in the area of Wyoming that I was next going to make a little clinching trip to, so looks like I might have to do that in the coming weekends.

So...you won't be moving up to 361.  Just 272.  :D

But quite temporarily.  :sombrero:  As for when I can get a 361? None even remotely close to me and I have a kid on the way, so that's going to limit the random trips for the sake of roadgeeking.

I have two kids.  Although they can put a damper on travel to some degree, my advice is to train 'em young for road trips.

The 102 wall, eh?  If you ever make the drive to Halifax, there's a 102 waiting for you right there.  Illinois has a 102 just south of Chicagoland that can be useful for transferring between I-55 and I-57. A trip to Acadia National Park gives you access to Maine 102.

Yeah, that 102 in Illinois isn't far from me. 107 is what I'm stuck on and it's 3 hours to the nearest one in Ohio. I do plan to get over there someday.

If you ever fly to Jacksonville, FL102 is Airport Road and you can't really leave the airport without it.

Isn't OK 102 concurrent with I-40 for a couple miles? That seems like an even easier way to get it.

Utah 102 isn't too hard to grab if you're passing through northern Utah on interstates, as it forms part of the I-15 and I-84 business loops through Tremonton. Although it does not directly interchange with I-15 itself.

A drive up US51 anywhere around Wausau allows you the opportunity to detour onto Wisconsin 107 for a bit. It's a shame M-107 got decommissioned poking into the Porcupine Mountains in the UP, because my dad clinched that for me when I was a seven-year-old.  Illinois 107 extends north from I-72 from US54's eastern endpoint. I have a piece of Ohio 107, and a piece of Massachusetts 107 on the way to see the Salem Witch Museum.  Just some ideas for 107...107 is definitely a hard one.

My plan to get 102 is to do VA/WV 102 after the extension of the King Coal Hwy opens.

I believe after that I will jump to 198 after that which I can get in MD or VA much easier than in PA.
