bzort, that sign is technically in Colorado (it's about 4 feet north of the state line).  On ground of state location ambiguity, you lose and I'll have to come to your house and eat your cat.

if the control city was not enough identification, then the unique guide sign shape will be.

29 (but the State Shield says which state since this state uses neutered shields)

What's around the shield should give away what state it's in.

that's not unique to New Jersey, but between that and North Camden it can be fairly quickly figured out.

anyway, here's a 29

now, we can continue with 31

for posting an incorrect 29, I'll have to ... wait, what? oh, um, I'll just eat your lease paperwork, then your cat.

Not many DOTs sign county routes this way...that should narrow down where this is...

agentsteel53

I certainly can think of only one state that puts the word COUNTY above the number, gives no specific county identifer - and has such a visible love for both concrete and grain elevators  :sombrero:

Hold up! P-A was used for 18 this round. We need another 34, or we'll have to eat one of Jake's cats! :-/

oh shit, is that what that was?  My firewall blocked it at work, my mobile phone showed it as a tiny smudge about four pixels high, so I assumed it was Wisconsin based on the fact that you're from Michigan, and a kinda square-looking route shield was likely to be either a US-18 or a state route 18 (WI is not exactly known for keeping the distinction well) from one state over from you!  :-D

luckily I have no cats.  Here's another 34.

now we can continue with 37, and I can assume Wisconsin is fair game again.

No cats? We'll eat your photos, then.

gah, not another one blocked by the firewall!  Well, I'll assume it's not California since you tend to not have photos from there.

Several of which still exist if you know where to look (121 and 140 come to mind).

(BTW, on the strategy bit, 40 *HAS* to come from Arizona, unless someone happens to have a photo of a BIA route sign hiding somewhere. Also, the only number we have left for Nevada is 50, and in Maine we're limited to 41, 43, or 46.)

(Merged double post. -S.)

Perhaps it would be best if we kept a running tally of what has and hasn't been used. To that end...

used: AR CO MI NE OR ID MS KS AK WA WV WY MD SD MT UT IA PA FL TN AL NY VA IL NM NC TX MA SC NJ LA HI MN CT MO VT OK CA

Still good for this go-around:
AZ DE GA IN KY ME MT NV NH ND OH RI

compressed it so we didn't have a vertically large post
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

I've got a couple; I had been hoping that would be enough to tide us over.  Alternately, we can always wildcard it... even if we screwed up earlier, the escape clause is there.
