For those of us here who have or are currently storm chasers, what sort of music do you listen to on your way to the target area? My music consisted of a lot of 80's rock with staples such as:

and

hbelkins

"Humans Being" by Van Halen. Can't think of a more appropriate tune than one that was on the "Twister" soundtrack.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

kernals12

Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks?

SectorZ

Ride the Lightning by Metallica.

(And yes it's about the electric chair, but it could be about kittens and still be effective for storm chasing)

How about Ridin' the Storm Out by REO Speedwagon?

You mean weather people don't listen to smooth jazz 24/7?

Haha, I remember being a kid and hearing nothing but that on the Weather Channel. Those were the days...

"Distant Thunder" by Checkfield (title track of the album) might be an appropriate, though mellower, tune.

How about Thunderstruck by AC/DC?
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

"Rock you like a Hurricane"  by the Scorpions?

Buck87

These 2 would say "Oklahoma!" by Rogers and Hammerstein

Life in Paradise

In a more classical realm, how about Ride of the Valkyries from Apocalypse Now?

Off topic, but the guitar opening of Run To You sounds a lot like the one at the beginning of that 867-5309 song.

KOMA in Oklahoma City traditionally plays the Pride of Oklahoma's rendition of "Oklahoma!" right before their 5 PM station ident. (It's the official state song, if you're wondering why.) Given that 5 PM is a prime time for mesocyclone development, it's plausible that at least one storm chaser has had it on the radio while chasing.

I don't chase, but "Ride Like the Wind' comes to mind or "Ride of the Valkyries."

I've liked watching Pecos Hank's chasing videos and listening to his music. Any of the Southern Backtones songs would fit on my playlist. On a related note I'll be taking spotter training this year.

I also storm chase. Been doing it for over 20 years.
The music depends on at what stage of the chase I am at.

If we are driving to get into position for storm genesis, say we are in Topeka and the chase area for the day is the Front Range of Colorado for instance, and good driving music with classic rock and country being in heavy rotation. I posted my driving list in the travel section here. https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=28452.msg2570073#msg2570073
If we are on a storm waiting, songs like Human Beings, Against the Wind and Blown Away, etc. are used to encourage the storm.
Once a storm has a wall cloud, no music at all. I want to hear the storm.
If a storm has a lot of lightning and its after dark, lots of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Wall and Division Bell albums.
If we are going back to an area that got hit and doing damage survey,, Shine on You Crazy Diamond (all parts) and Marooned.
If the chase has been a bust, not much music is played. Lots of assessing of what happened and what didn't happen.

Riders on the Storm by The Doors?

I don't storm chase but this music seems like it would be appropriate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3HfVcaH0nE

Storm Eagle's stage music from Mega Man X seems appropriate given his weapon is Storm Tornado.
