Palm trees in Canada.

I had known about the palm tree on the Inner Harbour of Victoria, BC, GSV but then I found one south of where the Trans Canada officially ends as a Provencal Highway at Tolmie Ave:  GSV.  I thought that could be the northern-most palm tree in Canada, but then I was going through old photos and found some more in Vancouver: GSV.  I doubt anyone could find any more growing outdoors beyond Vancouver.  I wonder if the home improvement stores even sell them there.

There's these obviously-not-natural palm trees in Kelowna: https://goo.gl/usW144

I'm sure there's some more in the Okanagan (perhaps near the border in Osoyoos). More brutal winters, but warmer summers than the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island.

Canada would have a lot more palm trees if the idea to annex the Turks and Caicos Islands ever happened.

They look natural. They just aren't native.

Little different to these ones a degree further north (and getting the full benefit of the North Atlantic Drift) in Bournemouth (and there's not a small number, though few are big, in people's gardens up here a degree further north and a good way inland - they can cope with the occasional frost/snow, but a cold winter does have a big negative effect).

I know I was surprised to see palm trees in London last month. I also have seen a few in Portland, Oregon which I assume has the same thing going on as Vancouver.

They didn't "naturally" grow there.

Not entirely sure if they were real trees, but these palms on Broadway and Highway 99 in Vancouver sure look like it:

When you've been around them for 30 years, you don't really question them much. Did a double-take when going through my photos, though!
