Increase Max Character Count?

This is more of a personal request than anything else I guess, but in my thread - https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=28578.0, I'm running up against the max character count for my table in the OP that allows me to put GSV links on all of the data. I understand the reasoning for having a max, but I don't believe it's really an issue for anyone other than me at the moment, i.e. I don't see spammers or trolls putting a whole bunch of crap into one post vs. just doing multiple posts. Any chance we can bump that up to at least 30K or eliminate it altogether?

I just want to confirm that you're still using the tricks I mentioned, right? Because the software automatically re-inserts the skipped tags and the "http", you'll have to manually remove them each time you edit the post.

Yep. I've trimmed everything I can (including some of the column headers) and I'm still sitting at 25,351 characters according to Word and that's not including the introduction to the post. Again, this is a specific example, but until I see a reason to have a limit, it seems like it's not providing any benefit to anyone (i.e. the mods) and just being a pain for me in this specific case.

Can we increase it for users above a certain rank? It's unlikely you'll stick around past 500 or even 100 posts just to post spam.

forward solution i've seen on other boards: when the first post is an info post that's intended to be regularly updated, immediately post a self-reply with "<reserved for updates>" or somesuch. once the first post gets too big, continue on post #2.

if on this board mods/admins can manually insert a reply, this is suitable for the post at hand, as well.

And had I known that I was going to add GSV links, I probably would have reserved it for myself. But too late.

isn't Max enough of a character already?

We may have a better solution for pages like this in the works.

Oooh, do tell.

We've run into the 20,000-character limit before, notably in a thread tabulating Caltrans contracts with pattern-accurate signing plans.  The last post in it dates from 2013, about five or six years after Caltrans changed its plan preparation standards to encourage the production of sign sketches that actually resemble real signs.  I think an up-to-date comprehensive listing would now be too long to post even with a limit of 30,000 characters.

It's been increased from 20000 to 25000 in the past without the mods telling anyone.
