FM 546 being relocated at McKinney. Google Maps shows construction

It is worth noting that this would be the second relocation of this section of FM 546. It is not obvious, but it once stair-stepped using Elm and Millwood. The old curve is visible at the SW corner of those two streets. it has also been relocated twice at the airport.

I noticed that even weeks later there are still two FM 546 signs up at each intersection LOL.

I guess you are saying the new route is now open. Heck, they left up an FM 2499 sign on the old route after the new route opened in 1991. It stayed up until after 2000. There is still an FM 3504 sign up on Mill St in Lewisville even though the route was decommissioned in 2012.

Yes it's been open for a while, I commute past it every day. I took it down to the airport area and turned around - it's nice albeit nothing remarkable.

The new FM 546 is now on GSV.

The signage is all f-ed up.

What's even the point of this under-bridge u-turn at the RR? And this is a confusing way to sign it

The signage is always really messed up on every new road that TxDOT builds. Every single one. This is the fault of the engineers that design the roads. Sometimes thats TxDOT engineers, sometimes it outside consultants. TxDOTs sign crews and bosses, the ones without the big fancy college degrees, know how to sign a road waaaayyyyy better than the engineers. TxDOT really needs to properly train their engineers on signage.

And then they left a couple of the old signs behind: remnant curve ahead and chevron on the old alignment of FM-546.

Edit: Another one, except this one they turned around, at least...

Visited the area today, and found that all route marker signage for the old route is still standing

If you are talking about this:

That provides access to Old Mill Road.

The u-turn sign is for the crossover you can see to the left....
Let's build what we need as economically as possible.
