that is an amazing find!

several questions:

1) is this a City of Forth Worth administered road?  TxDOT would usually be much more up-to-date on the signage.

2) what were the original contents of that gantry?  it is twice as large as is needed to hold just that one sign.

1) yes Beach St
2) I have no idea, it was probably a bigger sign saying the same thing. The southbound ones are similar. It likely said "Dallas" on it before 1957.

Did you check to see if the southbound one is still there?

Also, do you know what year this intersection was built? I find it interesting that it is an SPUI, yet it appears to by kinda old.

NBI says 1962, and it shows up on a 1963 aerial: http://www.historicaerials.com/aerials.php?scale=3.16426516734239E-06&lat=32.7437023569839&lon=-97.2893389273546&year=1963
The 1970 aerial shows the left turn movements better. This is earlier than the supposed first SPUI (1974). Boom.

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

Yeah probably early 1960s, the southbound overhead is still there. The lighting was bad, but i'll grab it next time I go over there.
