I have read this column a few times in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (known to some as the Dem-Gaz and to others as the DOG.)
I think Frank Fellone tries to dumb down roadgeekdom for lay people by explaining jargon (which is perfectly fine), but I find it interesting, entertaining and sometimes informative. Here is an example:

Does other media devote resources to transportation matters?
The Fort Worth paper does a a transportation column called "Honkin' Mad". The Dallas paper has a beat writer about the subject but not really a column; his predecessor was a lot better and seemed more into roads.
