I recently drove a small portion of CA 185 from I-238 north to CA 112 at Davis Street in San Leandro.  CA 185 before the 1964 State Highway renumbering was part of LRN 105.  From CA 112/Davis Street northwest into Oakland LRN 105 was the original alignment of CA 17 before it was shifted off the surface streets.  Oddly LRN 105 between Hayward and San Leandro never carried a State Highway number until 1964 when CA 185 was assigned.  The latest relinquishment language running through the legislature seems to suggest that in the near term everything on CA 185 aside from 14th Street in Oakland might be gone.  I'd have to say for what little I actually drove the surface quality of CA 185 in San Leandro is by the worst (that's saying something) I've encountered on a Caltrans maintained roadway.

As you know, I'm going through the CTC minutes. The following was in January:

In January 2019, the CTC authorized relinquishment of right of way in the unincorporated territory of the county of Alameda (County) on Route 185 (East 14th Street and Mission Boulevard) (04-Ala-185-PM 0.9/3.2), under terms and conditions as stated in the relinquishment agreement dated November 27, 2018, determined to be in the best interest of the State. Authorized by Chapter 339, Statutes of 2017, which amended Section 485 of the Streets and Highways Code.
