Also, "ranting and raving" - does this have a positive or negative connotation?

Historically, I've thought of it as having a positive connotation, sort of like a synonym for compliment excessively, as in, "they ranted and raved about the delicious chicken noodle soup".

But rant clearly has a negative connotation, so now I'm not sure.
