I'm sure Pink Jazz's heart is breaking right now, because the Grammy-winning saxophonist who combined the best of jazz with that of R&B, pop and rock, passed away at the age of 78 from prostate cancer:

Among his many highlights are his prominent role in the David Bowie hit Young Americans, his collaborations with well-known artists from jazz and other genres, and playing on many of the most memorable TV show themes ever made, like L.A. Law and The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder. Not only did he "put the saxophone back in rock & roll," he was its biggest innovator, similar to what Herbie Hancock did with the piano and keyboards, Herb Alpert with the trumpet, and George Benson with the guitar. Thanks for the wonderful music, Mr. Sanborn, and you will be missed.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

My first thought: "Man he was so young!"

<looks up to see that he was 78>

Yikes.
