SB655 has passed in the OK Senate and is headed to the OK House. It ssays (in part):
" 32) A new bridge crossing the Arkansas River in the vicinity
between South Yale Avenue and South Memorial Drive in
Tulsa County. This project shall commence upon a determination by
the Oklahoma Transportation Authority that such bridge shall be
self-sufficient at some point over a thirty-year time period from
the toll charges associated with the bridge project."
This project has been batted around for the past decade.  It started when Tulsa was trying to attract the Kimberley-Clark plant to town.  Supporters now think there is enough new residential development to justify it.  We'll see.

A toll bridge? In Oklahoma? Whaaaaat?

Or is this going to hook into a larger toll facility at one or both ends?

Is this the bridge that the Creeks are planning to build?

It doesn't specify anything about connecting roads. Based on the proposed location, it would likely only be the bridge.  THere is no way a full-blown turnpike would work running north-south in that area.

The city of Tulsa is against this bridge because they would have to upgrade some streets to handle the increased traffic.  Bixby and Jenks are for it.
