Since the NS shield looks just like the US one, I'll play US 50 in Lake Tahoe, CA:
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

50 miles to Kona.   Taken at the north end of the road to South Point on Hawaii's Big Island at its junction with Hawaii 11.  August 30, 2006.

Am I interpreting the rules correctly that valid plays from here must be any 50 or a distance specifically to Kona?  Or do destinations not need to match when matching distance signs, meaning any distance sign would match?

Destinations need to match. Different cities with the same name are interchangeable.

Switching from FL 50 to a 50mph speed limit sign at the south end of Alaska's Dalton Highway (AK 11). The limit applies to the entire highway.

Nope. Valid entries must have a single number (this sign also has a 1), and the "Cars 50¢" isn't its own sign element.

Doh!

I fouled...

Here is the replacement, also from billburmaster.com. That should pass

Proposal: Treat numbers pertaining to toll charges as a "sign element," and make them all the same sign element type. (So in ilpt4u's original post, the play would be "toll charge of 50 (cents)."

BTW, if it were expressed as "$0.50," would it still be a match? I wouldn't allow that, because 0.50 is not the same number as 50.

You are correct. That would not be allowed.

However, I will accept your proposal. (Do note that "cars 50¢" would only match others that are for cars only.) As the sequence of signs is still valid with that photo included, the game can continue without any changes.

Switching back to speed limit signs, this one a weird-font 50mph marker from where I grew up in southern California, on College Blvd. in Oceanside CA:

So by this rule Jim's distance sign a few posts up wouldn't be valid either. I don't care either way, I'm just curious as to whether or not I can play those signs, since I have a lot of photos of distance signs.

Your choice of a ramp advisory or exit tab from I-43.

Hoping to play another 84 after this (but would be happy with a 1, 2, 6, 131, or Yukon).

This one's in Chama, New Mexico.  November 15, 2003.

Yukon only has 1-11, and 37. I have photos of all those markers, but have already played most of them (5, 9, and 37 might be all I have left).

Best I can do is to play this US 1-US 2 junction in Houlton ME, taken in August 2003. I've played both routes from other locations, but not this one.
