Someone mentioned to hit UNNOTIFY at the bottom, which does not appear. I was playing around and hit NOTIFY, and then the UNNOTIFY button appears so I hit that. Still keep getting the unwanted threads.

Are you referring it to appearing in "unread replies"? This is a very common question. There is no way to do it other than deleting all of your own posts in that thread (which is highly discouraged as it breaks the flow of conversation).
