AUSTIN - A first of its kind in Texas - a caution sign encouraging safe travel for motorcyclists on high-use routes - will show up next week on scenic Hill Country highways.

The Texas Department of Transportation will debut the first of several motorcycle-specific "Stay Alert, Save a Life" signs on a portion of highway just east of Leakey in Real County. The new signs caution motorcyclists to be alert through the next few miles.

A sign unveiling ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Frio River Crossing 1.3 miles east of U.S. 83 on RM 337 - part of the scenic Three Sisters loop and a popular route for motorcyclists and drivers alike.

I thought Clearview hasn't been approved for dark-on-light applications (e.g. black on yellow).

We've had these signs for a few years over here, particularly on roads where bikes are ridden aggressively.
