US 77 received a downgrade at NE 35:

Don't always assume that state DOTs are incompetent when it comes to making errors by posting US routes as state routes. Sometimes they need to replace a missing sign but they don't have the needed sign blank, so they compromise by posting a state route sign with the correct route marker.

This was the case along US 641 in western Kentucky recently.

Unless it's a rare case of two different route types with the same number, or the wrong direction/number, it's really not a big deal and I delight in finding them. After all, it's better to have a sign in place than none at all.

But I think that Fredonia example has been there since at least May of 2020...

US 9 and US 30 got a bit lost and ended up in MA:

Maybe the contractors could've, I dunno, looked up a bit while they were painting the shields.
But here's the kicker: the shields used to be correct before being removed and repainted sometime between Nov 2019 and June 2022. I know a lot could've happened in that timeframe but they were fairly new, first appearing on GSV in Nov 2017.

Anyway, signs get wrong, even HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... (x Infinity) So, ODOT put a US 42 sign in Oregon on OR 42. US 42 was supposed to run from Kentucky to Ohio. ODOT also pot an error OR-101 sign on US 101 at Johnson when the improvements were complete.

I found this on GSV, NM-146 got a promotion for a construction detour sign last year to US-146. At least the sign was just a temporary detour one.

Texas Loop 375 in El Paso got upgraded to US-375 according to some pavement shield markers north of the "Spaghetti Bowl" interchange.
I can't believe the contractors who installed the pavement markings made this major mistake. The US highway shield is a lot more complex to cut out compared to the rectangular Texas route marker shield.
At least they installed the correct one on another ramp in the interchange.

Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

I just saw this one this weekend.  SH-87 got upgraded, but a bit more confusing, unlike some of these errors where the US highway depicted belongs on the opposite side of the country, US-87 actually exists in Texas.

Decommission 128 south of Peabody!

Lowest untraveled number: 56

US 1 gets the Connecticut treatment in Westerly, Rhode Island. Maybe it was a compromise for being near the state line? :D

Petersburg isn't the only one trying to upgrade VA 36. Apparently Hopewell wants to try its hand, and raised them a US 10!

EDIT: Might as well throw in a US 156 while they're at it

From the other thread:

Near WTC in Manhattan: Someone made an oopsies on a detour sign and used a "US-9A" shield instead of a NY-9A one.
Interstates & freeways clinched: 16, 78, 87 (NY), 97, 287, 295 (NJ/PA/DE), 676, ACE, GSP

Found this gem in Hershey, PA on Wednesday:

The correct PA-743 shield is in the background.

Those US 743 shields have been there since at least 2016.

I couldn't find this one on GSV, but in Salamanca, NY on I-86, at the western end of the US 219 concurrency heading east, there is an erroneous NY 219 shield.

Drove Interstate 86 across the Southern Tier last year and shot a pic of it:
