Why?
All I'd have to do is run as Democrat.
You'd have to win the primary first.

Correct.  He's going into the ministry.     (True.  An article was in the Detroit News today about his "homecoming".)

Nope I'd be the best mayor Detroit's had since Hazen Pingree.

Quote from: The Detroit News – Kwame Kilpatrick to preach Sunday in Detroit. He plans to remarry and become a minister – 08-JUN-2021
Kilpatrick will preach during the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church at 9000 Woodward. The Rev. James Holley, the senior pastor of Little Rock for past 43 years, said Tuesday that the ex-mayor will deliver a message of hope and second chances.

"Based on interviews about his (Christian) conversion ... it's worth telling," Holley said Tuesday. "We want people to know God can make a change in people's lives."

Yeah, give him a minute.

Don't forget, he's been pardoned.   Officially, he's never been convicted of a crime, so he would be free to run again, though I hope he doesn't.

Plants are fascinating. I can't grow any plant on earth, but when I spilled some birdseed on the ground, a sunflower grew. And then came back the next year. I have since moved away from that house, but I would literally do nothing and sunflowers just kept growing.

I got some sunflower seeds and am trying to plant them this year. Wish me luck!

Sunflowers are really cool! If you watch them during the day, some species actually twist around to face the sun as it tracks across the sky. (Also they make for good highway shields.)

And I find myself pretty fascinated with plants, too. I'm working on starting a marijuana grow business with a friend of mine, and to make a little bit of money while we're working on that he got a job at a plant nursery. He's gotten way into plants besides just the cannabis family, and is experimenting with different growing and pruning techniques on random plants he's purchased from his workplace (I think he has Japanese maples, a tomato plant, and a rosebush he's working on now). He's also dug up a few random tree seedlings (maple, oak, elm) and is taking care of them too. Of course, much of what he learns from them carries over to cannabis, so it'll be good knowledge to have.

What really fascinates me, though, is trees. It's incredible that a tiny seed can turn into such a huge organism that can live for hundreds of years, and that forms such an important part of regulating our planet's climate and making other forms of life possible. I just got back from my grandma's house in Kansas City, and realized she has a bunch of maple and red oak seedlings growing in her garden and even her gutters, since she has mature red oaks in her front yard dropping acorns, and propeller-seed maples blowing in from outside. I ran down to Walmart and got some cheap pots and some potting soil and dug eleven of them up and potted them. Now they're sitting on my front porch in Oklahoma. Hopefully they'll live and I can plant them somewhere they can grow up and reach their full potential.

Plant a cottonwood (maybe other poplars work too). They grow fast, get big, and do great in Oklahoma if you give them lots of water. One grew completely by accident, and got lots of water from the gutter spout it was next to. Within 2 years it was 5 ft tall, and in 5 years it was taller than the house.

Can I point out the difference between pardoned and a commuted sentence?

We had 3 of them at the house I grew up in, so I'm familiar with them. The problem with cottonwoods is that their roots are extremely shallow and even sometimes are partially above ground. That means they can wreak havoc on plumbing, fences, and foundations, and can even make mowing in the area a chore. Some variants also broadcast seeds that have white fuzz attached to them that blows all over the place (someone in my neighborhood has one and I'm constantly having to fish cottonwood seed out of my pool). They also attract cottonwood bore beetles, which are harmless, but can seriously freak you out if you're skittish around bugs.

My favorite family of tree is the oak family. They are unfortunately excruciatingly slow to grow, but they get massive, are long lived, and the gold standard when it comes to shade trees. I planted a white oak in my front yard in 2017. It's only about as tall as I am, but it could grow to be 100 feet tall and live to be 400 years old. I want to get some rooting hormone from my business partner and make a cutting of it to see if I can get that to grow too.

Not in this context. If anyone cares they can Google it or discuss it on a politics forum.

There should be a political thread where all bets are off. The reason why you shouldn't talk politics is because it makes people hate each other.
