Title: Bankhead Highway signage in Grand Prairie, TX
Post by: Brian556 on November 17, 2011, 10:36:27 PM
The City of Grand Prairie has end tabs on their street name blades on SH 180 (Old US 80) (Main St) that identify it is the "Historical Bankhead Highway" Don't know that the Interstate shield was the best choice of graphics, however. I also think it should say "HISTORIC" not "HISTORICAL"

Well, it is a rare road-related tribute not usually seen in DFW.  If a historic route in the area is still signed with anything, it's usually an SH or FM or Loop/Spur; otherwise, it's treated as obsolete and decommissioned.
