I thought it closed when the February 5 challenge started.

Nope, they're valid only through the calendar day, so they close at midnight (per your local time). So you'd never be able to answer one Challenge and post a new one at the same time (unless, I suppose, you start typing at 11:59 and finish at 12:01...)

I assume we're looking for something here more interesting/unusual than the run of the mill state welcome sign.

So I offer the US/Canada and Alaska/Yukon border along the 141st meridian, looking north across the Alaska Highway.  You can see the cut area in the trees going off into the distance.  June 14, 2001.

With that in mind, I'll post a "thanks for visiting!" sign instead. This is the MN-317 / ND-17 bridge across the Red River of the North, taken from the Minnesota side.

All I've got is the conventional state welcome signs from Georgia and Tennessee. Both of these are off of Interstate 75 at the GA/TN state line near Chattanooga:

However, I suppose this does showcase Georgia's new State Welcome Sign..

Kind of hard to tell, but I used a 210mm lens for this shot:

Long lens, shot with my old 75mm-300mm lens.  I can't recall the focal length though that I used for it though:

QuoteFEBRUARY 7: Post a single BGS that uses each of the 5 vowels exactly one time.  If that is too much of a challenge, any sign that contains all five vowels is fine.

I'll start, hopefully this is the only Sequoiah NP entry  ;-) .  I'm to lazy to find a sign that uses the vowels only once.

The one on the right:

Despite a few missing letters, this was south of Jacksonville along I-95:

On US 22:

I suppose the trick is finding ones that don't have "SOUTH" or "EAST" on them; then again, sequoia has all five in one word.

"Louisiana" gives you four of the five.

Although the challenge didn't specify it, I excluded subtext (EXIT tab, directionals, MILE(S), etc.) Here are the winners from my inventory:

As for signs that use each vowel at LEAST once, I have plenty of those...

Here's one example--

IMG_7365 by Paul Drives, on Flickr

But I'm still finding a sign that has one of each.  Outlook of me finding one isn't good.  Here's one that just uses
each vowel once in the control cities only (rightmost panel).
