Lately some of my posts have been either getting a duplicate 5 second violation notice when trying to post or an Oops Something Went Wrong.

What's up with this?

Are you referring to searching? Both of those are searching errors for me, not posting errors.

I've only gotten an "oops something went wrong" notice when trying to move back to the search page after reading one or more of its results (and only sometimes). It's fairly recent; it may have started when the three-day shutdown did.

I believe the "5 seconds" for searching is actually 10; this isn't new.

As for posting, there is definitely a bug where sometimes (not always) if someone else posts within 15 seconds, you'll get the 15 second notice. This predates the forum shutdown, but by only a few months.

Ah, so it's not blaming *me* for posting within the past 15 seconds...it's saying *someone* posted in the past 15 seconds, and the system won't let anyone post for 15 seconds after that post (which has nothing to do with my current post).

It was for posting. Searching I'm well aware, but this was posting the past few weeks.

This issue is definitely intermittent, though. You'd be noticing it a lot more if it happened every time two users tried to post within 15 seconds of each other.

I just logged on for the first time since getting home from work.  On the first thread I clicked on, there had not been a reply in almost 1½ hours.  When I went to post my reply, it said that another post had been made from my IP address within the last 15 seconds.  Um, no.  I hadn't posted AT ALL from this IP address today.  And no, it wasn't another user who posted in the same thread:  nothing since almost 1½ hours ago.

Same thread is not required.

I wouldn't know when anyone else tries to post and gets this same issue though.

The 15-second posting issue affects searches, too. For the first time, I got an incorrect message saying my last search was less than 5 seconds ago despite not having searched recently.

Hopefully fixed now with whatever update was done.
