Jumping to Hamlin, Saskatchewan, and taking Saskatchewan 4 to Battleford.  June 10, 2001.

And now hoping the next play will take us somewhere on the Yellowhead.

Hwy 16 is the Yellowhead Highway.

But doesn't it have distinct markers?

AsphaltPlanet

It does, but they are used as auxiliary markers in addition to the TCH signs.

For example:

This one's just west of Winnipeg.  June 9, 2001.

West of Edmonton.  June 11, 2001.

So I guess the valid play above is for TCH 16, since there is no Yellowhead shield in the picture.

Continuing the game, I'll reverse direction on TCH 16 at Saskatoon and go to Jasper, Alberta.

Taken West of Edmonton.   June 11, 2001.

You Americans... in Alberta, and Saskatchewan, Hwy 16 is synonymous with Hwy 16.  It'd be an equivalent argument to saying that The Grand Army of the Republic Highway isn't US-6 just because it isn't specifically indicated on a sign.  And I only called it the Yellowhead Highway because that's what Jim was looking for to continue playing.

* edit.  I originally played Prince George, BC instead of Mounteagle, but I changed it shortly after playing because I was afraid we'd work ourselves into a corner and wouldn't be able to get off of Hwy 16.

Let's go back to Paducah on I-24

Already been there once via I-24, so it's not allowed by rule #1.  If we start to have trouble finding places to go, that rule could be relaxed in the future.

I don't get it...is there a stereotype I'm not aware of?

No no, the equivalent would be if I had said the Hwy 16 isn't the Yellowhead. But what I said was that I didn't see Yellowhead in the photo–i.e., the route marker that's one of two required elements for an entry. So the equivalent there would be if you'd showed a photo of a US 6 shield and said "here's a Grand Army of the Republic Highway marker," because there's no such marker in the photo.

But yeah, of course the submission works perfectly well with Hwy 16 as the route instead of Yellowhead, so there's no concern.

So here's the issue.  I know, that you knew what I meant when you read my post, but instead of adding something constructive to the game, you chose to write a stupid post based on trivial semantics.  It's for reasons like this (granted on a much larger scale), that the internet becomes a cesspool.

Let's look at the facts:

No need to open your mouth if you have nothing to say.

Now, personally, I'd actually like to play this game, rather than engage in trivial arguments, so rather than arguing, why not find a city on US-41 or I-24 that hasn't yet been played.

US 190 is in the previous picture, but it does not travel through Lake Charles. I-10 would work if a shield were present there.

Not a problem.  I find it easiest to give a quick check with the Search box when viewing this thread, and it returns only results in the thread.  The same works well in the Road Sign City Photo Game.

There seems to be some misunderstanding here. This is an idle game on an internet forum–it isn't an important situation, so the stakes aren't anywhere near high enough for anyone to give or take this much offense. If something I write seems to give this much insult, I can only assure you that's a mistaken perception, because I don't consider this activity so serious that I would ever need to attack anybody over it. That may not be true of all forum members, but it is true of me–and I realize it's hard to keep track of everyone–so that's just something to know as you keep reading.

One other thing I might suggest keeping in mind is that, with games, people often take as much interest in the rules as they do in the gameplay itself (just imagine any two sport fans arguing over the minutiae of a referee's call). That may come across as frivolous to others who aren't as interested in that aspect of the game–but again, remember the stakes here: they're frivolous, so frivolous concerns will naturally come into relief. In other words, you should not consider it an insult when somebody makes a trivial observation in a trivial situation. :-)

Right, and your photo showed "Battleford -> Hwy 16 -> Saskatoon". The difference lies in which route marker appears in the photo, not which physical road connects the two places. Accordingly, I posted this:

...because the Yellowhead Highway marker wasn't in the photo. That's all; like I said, not important, and not ultimately consequential, since your post worked perfectly well by using the Hwy 16 shield instead.

Jim

I'm a few minutes short of 24 hours, but I'll go now anyway.  It looks like no one liked Sinton.  Maybe we'll do better after taking US 77 from there to Brownsville.  November 4, 2017.
