U.S. 301 in southern Maryland is in the 301 area code.

I can't think of any in WA/OR/ID/MT/WY/CO/UT, which are the only states whose area codes I know all of off the top of my head. Washington has SRs 206 and 509, but neither of those are in the correct area codes. I don't think any of the other states even have corresponding numbered routes. Montana was a solid candidate, but doesn't have a highway 406.

New Mexico appears to have an SR 505 in area code 575 and an SR 575 in area code 505. how's that? that's very good- thank you!

Arizona doesn't have any.

Aha, on second thought it does. I was looking at former US 240 being in the 240 and forgot that 301 comes out of the 410/443

VA 276 is the only primary route in Virginia to share its route with an area code in the state, but it's in the 540 area code (although the 276 area code was formed from 540). In the 703, 757, and 804 area codes, I'm certain there are secondaries with those numbers, but I can't think of any offhand.

KY 859 in Fayette County.

KY 606 is in Nicholas County but I'm not sure if they're in 606 still or if they were moved to 859.

I think KY 270 is in the 270 area code in western Kentucky.

Will have to check on KY 502. If it's in the 502 code then the Bluegrass State is four for four.

There's secondary route 703, Shreve Rd. in Fairfax County just west of Falls Church, in the 703 area code.

Nothing in Kansas either (four area codes:  316, 620, 785, 913), either current or historically.

Nothing comes to mind for NY; closest would be NY 347 on Long Island, which is also partially covered by the 347 area code just two counties away. But don't tell a Brooklynite that they have a Long Island area code!

In California, Route 213 towards Torrance is in an area that was once part of the 213 area code, but not since the early 1990s.

Nevada has area codes 702 (Las Vegas/Clark County area) & 775 (rest of state). Neither number is represented with a state route.

The closest Nevada gets is SR 773 & SR 774, both minor state routes in Esmeralda County, part of the 775 area code.

You have CT Route 203 in the town of Windham, in northeastern Connecticut. However, all of Windham County is area code (860). On a technicality, it was area code (203) there until 1995! As for (860), nothing is signed that way here, as our highest signed route is CT Route 372 from the Plainville/Bristol town line east towards Cromwell.

Old Carolina Road in Prince William County, sort of between Gainesville and Haymarket, is also numbered secondary 703.

Neither Alaska nor Hawaii have routes matching their area codes.  Alaska's routes don't even go into three digits.  Hawaii (a/c 808) had several former routes in the 8xx range, but the closest it ever came was 809.

I found a couple of 804 routes within the 804 area code: secondary route 804 in northwest Hanover County, as well as frontage road 804 (which, unlike the secondary, is uniquely numbered as such) in Dinwiddie County.

None of Oregon's area codes (503, 541, 971, and 458) is currently the number of a state route or state highway.  However, between 1937 and 1966 there was a Jordan Valley Highway #458 as a hidden highway designation; in 1966, it became part of I.O.N. Highway #456, which is US 95's hidden hwy name and number in Oregon today.

Connecticut does have an unsigned SR 860, but it's in the 203 area code. So, Connecticut joins New Mexico on the list of states with no match but an opposing pair.

I would assume that New Jersey must have a CR 609 somewhere in the 609 area code.  Whether it's in a county that signs its routes is an entirely different matter, however.  There's also a CR 551 in the state, but in the entirely opposite corner from the 201/551 area code.

Louisiana only has one match. LA 337 near St. Martinville/Lafayette.  LA 318 may be a historic one. It's near Jeanerette, but I can't recall if 318 ever extended that far south. It was either 318 or 504.

The closest Michigan comes is future M-231, but it's in the 616 area code. The boundary between the 616 and the 231 area codes is the Ottawa—Muskegon county line, and the future M-231 is only in Ottawa County.

Looked up KY 502. It's in Hopkins County, which used to be in AC 502 but is now in 270.

The only numbered route in Georgia that shares a number with an area code is SR 404, better known as I-16, which does not pass through the 404 area code.  The only other area code that could conceivably work is 229, but I don't believe there is a current route with that number.
