Drastic Changes Of The Same Location On GSV

I tried to find a thread for this, but I couldn't after searching a while. Apologies if there is a thread for this. Anyways:

Since GSV was introduced in 2006, there's been a lot of changes in the world. But certain areas look almost completely unrecognizable from how they were just a decade ago, whether by development, disaster, or something else. What's the most drastic change? Here are a couple of examples:

Development Along TX-288 In Pearland
2007
2020

Moore, OK Before And After 2013 Tornado
2011
2017

Here's some in the St Louis area after some major construction projects:

My favorites are when freeway construction happens. See for example 2009 vs 2019.
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

follow us-6 off of i-70 toward loveland pass via gsv. you'll go from what looks like summer, to a snowpacked us-6 with about 3 clicks.

Not quite as dramatic as some of the other example here, but here's a freeway exit in 2016 vs the same spot in 2020.

A few other views of the same interchange:
Ramp from I-490 WB to NY 390 NB: 2015 vs. 2020
NY 390 NB: 2012 vs. 2019 vs. 2020 (note the new southbound roadway under construction on the left)

Rosemont has green-lit huge swaths of development around I-294 between I-190 and Balmoral Ave as well as the Fashion Outlets south of Balmoral. Driving this stretch looks nothing like it used to, not to mention the highway has seen multiple waves of reconstruction.

2019: https://goo.gl/maps/XR6UQeS1w2kGDMLV6

Be sure to look 360 degrees around, as there's things built on both sides of the tollway.

There's also been big changes at the west end of Balmoral heading in the direction of O'Hare, with a new airport access road over Mannheim being built recently.

Mr. Matté

We sorta had this thread back in January, I made a post in there but got chastised for it but I guess my original intent of that post is more in-line with your question.

I'm curious as to how one can pull up and view (and then share) an older GSV image ?

Anybody ?
You're just like crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I got better things on the other side of town

In the top left corner, it's the clock icon. It will only appear if older imagery exists, though.

If you're on the mobile app, I don't think you can. On a browser you click on the clock next to where it says the date that the GSV you are currently viewing was shot. In the top left corner.

Or how about Sea Breeze Drive? 2007 vs. 2019.
I'm surprised you never mentioned the Inner Loop.  The area around it hardly even looks like the same city, let alone the same street!  2012 and 2020

You're right, that was a big oversight. I thought the same thing after you mentioned it in the Irondequoit Meet thread, and came back here to mention it.

My personal favorite is a bit further north: 2007 vs. 2020.
(I've got the views pointing south so you can see the Rochester Eye Center in both shots, but if you pan around, the change in the view facing north is even more dramatic!)

Vaughan Metropolitan Centre at the intersection of Highway 7 and Jane Street. Used to be nothing, now there's a Subway station, BRT, and also high-rise developments.

This is a bit of a bump, but since it came up in another thread, how about the US customs area at Whirlpool Bridge: 2017 vs. 2022

RobbieL2415

The end of US 6 in Provincetown, MA has changed three times since its construction. Went from a HUGE rotary to a long taper to a surface street to a shorter taper to a surface street, all over the course of half a century.

I've had somewhat of a fixation on the "Quad State Supercell" and the ensuing high-end tornado that destroyed a lot of Mayfield, KY.  The before-and-after tornado imagery in previous posts reminds me of scenes like this, that I saw on a visit to Mayfield 3 weeks ago.  Click between the Aug 2019 and Dec 2022 imagery. It's baffling.

Wow, that is stunning. Always a bit harder to take in when an element of nature suddenly changes things. Reminds me a bit of Lac Megantic, QC after the rail disaster, which was mentioned in a similar thread or earlier in this one.

I guess disasters like that result in enormous changes. It's even more interesting to look at the historical aerial imagery in Google Earth.
