Northbound is already reopened. Southbound will take about 6 weeks, according to later news reports. Could've been a whole lot worse, and thankfully it wasn't.

That's better than it being fully shut down, but will still be an annoyance to some people. I'm not in that area very much but I learned all the detours a long time ago because I worked at the Levee for over a decade.

What the hell is it with bridge fires lately? This is the second one involving the same river in Cincinnati too, with such an incident on the Brent Spence Bridge in 2020.

Just goes to show that Cincinnati is screwed to the wall, with just two interstate bridges leading into downtown (one from Covington, the other from Newport), and a long-ass detour around the loop in either direction. The Brent Spence Bridge and Mill Creek Expressway are going to get rehabilitated anyway, so with the Big Mac fire, this is now going to get even trickier for commuters.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

For the record, this is what the playground looked like beforehand.

Obviously that playground will be eventually replaced by a nice, safe, fire-resistant, solid concrete skate park.

It's unfortunate that another bridge has suffered a tragedy. It might make one wary about driving across one.

A little Bondo and that'll buff right out.
