The Toronto Star reports on a new 17km extension of Highway 400 that has opened ahead of schedule and has bypassed the tiny settlement of Nobel, home to some roadside businesses that are going to shut down after being bypassed. Also of note:
QuoteBy 2017, the four-lane construction along the highway from Parry Sound to Sudbury will be complete, at an estimated cost of $2 billion.

At Nobel's request, the Ministry of Transportation is turning the four lane highway running through Nobel into two lanes, with trails along the side for snowmobilers and hikers.
There's a photo of the old -- and now mostly empty -- highway.
