Little Rock proper suffers from a little St. Louis syndrome in that it's landlocked by suburbs, with nowhere else to grow but west into the mountains west of I-430. That kills the main city population. But west is where the high dollar development is headed.

Any reason why the city cannot expand toward the south along I-530? I can understand why the bottomlands along the river would not see development, but the area to the west of that looks reasonably developable from first glance.

Only reason I can think of is that it puts you closer to Pine Bluff, and that's even worse than living in Little Rock.  Lower real estate prices won't draw people toward Pine Bluff to get closer to the crime and decay found there.  I see the development between Benton and Sheridan taking off sooner than anything along I-530.

The primary reason is that each county has differing quality of schools. Pulaski county in many areas has decent schools.
Let's build what we need as economically as possible.

Sheridan in Grant County is growing rapidly, although it's already a big school district. Like a few other towns in Arkansas, it's a 6A school in a 4A town.

White Hall, Greenbrier, Vilonia and Beebe are pretty similar towns – there's about a 35-mile radius from Little Rock where people are willing to commute and raise families. Cabot, Bryant and Conway have graduated to full-blown suburbs. There are others.

The bridge actually opened yesterday. I was gonna try and drive on it (and record a little bit of footage) but it was raining the entire time. I got some screenshots from the dashcam footage I recorded yesterday...

These are all looking westbound

Exit 140 offramp westbound

Only downside is there isn't much guidance showing where AR 10 is after the offramp. That may change over time as more finishing touches are added to the newly opened bridge.
I take pictures of road signs, that's about it.

General rule of thumb: Just stay in the "Traffic Control" section of the forum and you'll be fine.

The best thing ARDOT did was fix the rat's nest that was I-30 to I-40 to US 67-167. They solved it by having I-30 traffic merge onto I-40 from the left and not have to change lanes at the 67-167 split.

This project is finishing early and nearing substantial completion: https://www.katv.com/newsletter-daily/major-arkansas-interstate-project-finishes-early-easing-commuter-frustrations-travel-commute-cars-vehicles-630-30-40-ahead-of-schedule

I had heard that they were going to close part of the street car as part of this project. Did that end up happening?

The "other" I-30 project, between Benton and the US 70 split, is nearing completion as well, I'm happy to say. Northbound I-30 has three lanes open from Exit 111.

Does anyone know about the I-30 Construction happening between Rockwall Tx and Greenville? What is the configuration supposed to look like after construction is finished?
