Any threads about random explosions

Only because other people started piling on with their unfunny derivatives.

Thankfully, we can integrate them back to the original funny thread.  :-D

I think that would be a better candidate for "threads you'll never see again on aaroads.com".
But hey, you never know what the future might bring.

I was hoping "Sun Explosion" would be followed with "Earth Explosion" (keeping with the theme), but alas it went in different directions.

Adding to the actual topic (note: I don't actually support this proposal):

Suggestions and Questions: Proposal for a new board for off-topic sections of long-running threads

The proposal is about sections of threads, like the last 20 replies or so of this one, that have gone off topic, and none of these would work:

* doing nothing, as the thread would devolve into Alanland or fierce politics debates (depending on the thread)
* splitting the thread, as the off-topic section doesn't really have a theme
* removing the offending posts, as it's more than a page
* locking the thread, as the actual topic would be lost

Previous threads have had different approaches. The AHTD to ARDOT thread devolved into pirate jokes and was then locked, while there was entire dam jokes thread that was split from another one.

That might actually work as a thread, depending on where you put it.

What's the longest thread you've never been on?
Probably the DST thread, though there are many long threads I've looked at with bemusement and moved on.

I’m pretty sure I never participated in the Alanland thread, as in general I don’t visit “Fictional Highways”  very often. (There’s the difficulty with the question: If there’s a long thread on a subforum you don’t visit, you wouldn’t know about it to cite in response to the question. I don’t visit several of the regional fora, as well as “Fictional Highways.”  I doubt I’m unique in that respect.)

Correct!  You have no posts in that thread.  Although...

Correct!  You have no posts in that thread.  Although...

IIRC, the post you linked came from the period after the moderators locked the Alanland thread and then got so tired of people constantly mentioning Alanland elsewhere that they put in a word filter to ban the word "Alanland" (obviously the filter has been removed). I recall one of the moderators saying something like, "The thread is closed, and we're tired of people not being willing to accept that" (not in those exact words, of course), and I believe my post was made in that context.

Correct.  I generally glance at the bottom which shows the 10 recent posts, and may dive into the Northeast subforum or General Highway.  After that, I'm not actively looking into many other subforums.
