I know it's not a real sign, which is why I said whoever made the sign is a genius (because it's freakin cool).

I made it myself; I took a MUTCD-standard Stop Ahead sign and replaced the stop sign with a padlock. Glad you like it!

Yes, it was definitely genius! Thank you for creating it, as it is super cool, and it was a creative and interesting contribution to the thread, while still getting your point across.

The sign would be better if it looked less like a handbag.  Maybe a key put in it?

For real roads, I'd think "gate ahead" would be a better way to sign a possibly locked gate ahead.  The first thing the driver needs to do is slow down and stop without hitting the gate.  They they can worry about whether they have the right key.

Maybe it's just me, but I immediately knew that what the sign is visually showing is a lock.

It looks incredibly similar to the "lock" icon shown on this forum.

Also, I personally think that it would look more like a handbag if the curved part was shorter in height - or maybe I'm just crazy.
