This past November I took a detour heading home from Kings Canyon National Park to drive Millwood Road between California State Route 180 westward to Dunlap Road.  Millwood Road was constructed by the Kings River Lumber Company in the 19th Century and was the original road to Grant Grove.  Millwood Road originally included what is now Sequoia National Forest Road 13S97 from California State Route 180 to Sequoia Lake.  Millwood Road was eventually supplanted by Dunlap Road which in became a State Highway in 1919 and the original alignment of California State Route 180 by 1934.
