The Millsboro Bypass appears to be a two-lane road with no median, but hypothetically, if widening was ever necessary, a second carriageway could be constructed.

It is good to see this design retains free-flowing conditions for US-113 traffic.

Why are they keeping the stub of Sheep Pen Road accessible -only- from US 113 and not from Route 20? That defeats the purpose of having free-flowing traffic on US 113.

Traffic will still be free-flow… the RIRO intersection will not affect that. US-113 will not be limited-access and all of those properties along the highway will retain access immediately south of the ramps too.

It seems typical for Delaware to not acquire the proper right of way for full control of access around interchanges, see DE-1 for a few examples as well.

The existing northbound lane should be converted into a frontage road that ties into the proposed cul-de-sac at Betts Pond Road. Shift the mainlines onto a new alignment briefly and they would maintain full control of access both north and south of the new interchange. The RIRO at Sheep Pen Road should be connected to the new bypass, while US-113 is treated as a full freeway.

On the Kent/Sussex border...

https://www.wrde.com/news/mispillion-bridge-closure-delayed/article_fb002e10-d8a8-11ed-a237-27805bdd6051.html

The link and headline are somewhat misleading.  It should read "Mispillion Bridge Reopening Delayed".

Twice in the last year and a half or so trucks failed to clear the underside of the counterweight, denting the steel and rendering the draw span unopenable.

Anyway they're going to blow getting it done by Memorial Day weekend.  Cape region folks from points west on DE 14 will have to follow said route (or DE 36, accessed just south of the river downtown) out to the bypass.

And back at the beach...

I was just looking at US 202 in Delaware, and I think there needs to be better signage of the transition to the overlap with I-95. Not just along DE 141, but from DE 202.

This sign needs a US 202 shield between the I-95 and I-495 shields, instead of a separate one along the railing which can get covered up by the brush in the summer;

This one needs a US 202 shield next to the southbound I-95 sign;
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7737772,-75.5443748,3a,75y,151.57h,89.08t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sHsTqFv5rCi8FBzUsvsBzYw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en

The same with this one;

The reality is that functionally, motorists don’t consider 202 to go past its northern junction with 95. No one thinks of the section of 95 thru Wilmington as part of 202, and the 141 overlap is exclusively considered to be 141 to motorists. DelDOT should truncate 202 to 95.

And this is reinforced by DelDOT dropping US 202 references on I-95 south at SR 141. Also the sign plans for SR 141 north at the recently completed interchange construction project with I-95 only included ground level trailblazers for US 202.

DelDOT and Newark are looking at removing the signal at W Park Place and Apple Road, and possibly even the signal a couple blocks down at Orchard Road as well.

https://www.newarkpostonline.com/news/deldot-proposes-to-remove-traffic-light-on-west-park-place/article_9f06eee0-4e05-58f4-805c-e71e3da5f8f0.html

Those are the only two signal arrays in Newark remaining with any character, especially at W Park Place/Orchard Road.

W Park Place at Apple Road in 2014

DelDOT's moving ahead with testing out the decommissioning of the light at Park Place and Apple Road.

I might have to ask around and see if I can bum one of the signals off them before they get scrapped.  :-P

Construction does indeed look like it's in progress for the 95/896 Interchange, they have begun cutting down swaths of trees on that the tree mountain, it's amazing how different it looks.

Yes.

I guess the couple of nearby state offices and Sussex Central HS generate too much traffic to not install a stoplight.
