IDOT announces new capital plan for Chicago expwy improvements (April Fools '23)

In case you missed it, earlier this week, IDOT announced funding plans for rebuilds on the Edens, Kennedy, Eisenhower, and Stevenson Expressways. Big changes coming, including some additional lanes, DDIs, SPUIs, and the elimination of most cloverleaf interchanges. There will also be no new tolls anywhere on these routes, thanks to the money coming in from the feds. Smart highway technology, similar to what we have on the tollways already is also planned. Very exciting stuff.

IDOT would get in trouble with that. Need to spend some of that $$$ Downstate or there would be problems

I was at the corridor 67 meeting they understand that. Most Republicans voted for the capital bill so they may have to made the tool more lax.

I mean, this is a good April Fools, but Corridor 67, the SWC, etc all would have to be also included to grease the Downstate wheels

I think that the hole in the Jacksonville Jerseyville stretch will pass the DDT . The district engineer is going to keep running it through the stress from. 104 to Macomb is a bigger oroblem. The EIS is  stale. The new bridge is being built to accommodate another span. Inn The meantime the engineer is going with some 5 plus shoulders as repaving comes up so is D4
The SWC is being run through as the South of Pickneyville as well as North and an EIS for 154.

Next year, I-, I mean, IDOT will have to be sure to remember downstate when putting out these sorts of announcements.
