Title: Multiplication route number game
Post by: Roadgeekteen on May 04, 2021, 07:25:48 PM
Rules:

This is like the 1-2-3 addition challenge, just with multiplication. Same rules apply about no GSV.

Rule update: any number can be used (exit numbers).

Too many issues with prime numbers (unless you use West Virginiaís fractional routes).

Too many issues with prime numbers (unless you use West Virginiaís fractional routes).
If they intersect a route 1 it can work. If we have too many issues we can skip the number.

No Golden State Warriors? Gulfstream West? Gunshot wound?

Yikes lol sorry. I meant GSV.

I've seen erroneous W instead of V in other places. Wikipedia has redirects from Wandals → Vandals and Wandalism → Vandalism, and some people (usually through Google Translate) refer to VAC, Valve Anti-Cheat, as WAC.

I just realized we never did 1, if there is a route 1/1 interchange somebody can post that but we can move on if nobody can find one.

I'm pretty lax, and allowing multiple digits will help when we get to the large numbers.

If you do find the 3 and 12, you can still use it for 36.

It would be more interesting if any numbers could be used, not just route numbers. This would allow things such as "1/4 mile" and "2 1/2 tons", the former of which would allow us to use something other than 1 for prime numbers.

As long as at least one of the numbers used in the equation is a route number, that's fine with me.

Otherwise, we're going to be stuck with a lot of single-digit routes for a while.

Why?

Because at least one of the two numbers has to be in the single digits until we get to 100.

10x10 is the lowest possible two-digit x two-digit combination.

Which I will point out is a sign I drive under on my way home every day in Amsterdam.

This is not a play for the game, but here's what used to be in that location before that section of arterial was designated as 2-way a couple of years ago.  Taken July 28, 2009.

(Images in the new Flickr format don't show up for me, but it seems to work for everyone else. Let me know if you can't see it.)
I canít see the image embedded, but if I find and use the direct link I saw it
*edit* I can see the embedded photo now

The 1 3/4 isnít a playable number, since it is a distance, not a shielded route number, unless of course the OP disagrees
I guess the rule is any number is playable, as long as at least 1 number is a shielded route number

paulthemapguy, it's a good thing you weren't able to post your 36 ó you played 32 and would have been in violation of the 5-number rule.

33 is invalid despite being from the OP, having played 30.

Utica is the perfect place for the perfect cube that's up next, but I don't seem to have a picture with all of New York 5, New York 5A, and New York 5S in the same shot to play it that way.

Glad I couldn't find it!  Of course my early morning math was wrong...

I thought I remembered someone doing it before, meaning I was just following precedent. However, I'm not seeing it. You seem to be right, as implied by reply #9 by the OP on the first page.

Reply #42 explicitly allows it, despite #9 implying that it isn't. Since I deleted my post, I'm posting it again below.

It's the URL that's the problem. It's not an image URL. I don't know why it temporarily does work, but it's not Bill's problem.

146 = IL-1 ◊ IL-146

Story time!  This was the summer after I graduated high school.  I had a little blue flip-phone with me on a camping trip to southern Illinois with my two high school friends.  Just behind this sign assembly, you can see my dad's white Ford Explorer I was driving around, parked on the gravel so I could get out and snap a few quick sign photos.  This was the last photo I was to take before settling down and camping at Cave-in-Rock State Park, a mile or so to the south.  When we got to the campsite though, I discovered that my cell phone was missing.  I started backtracking to look for my phone, as the sun was setting and we were losing daylight.  I was starting to give up, having looked for over half an hour, when I got back to this intersection.  This was to be my last attempt to look for the phone.  Nevertheless, just in the nick of time, my phone appeared on the gravel where I parked to take this sign photo.  It turns out, the phone fell out of my pocket, landing on the floor by the door jamb, and when I opened the door, it fell out of the car onto the ground.

After I got home from the trip, I was reviewing my  to extract the [url=https://flic.kr/s/aHsktMPart]shields (https://flic.kr/s/aHskEWkVzWsign photos[/url) from them, and I zoomed heavily in on the photo shown below.  You can barely make out a little blue/black speck below the passenger's side door of the car on the gravel.  That speck was my phone that I was about to leave behind.
