Post stuff about them here. I don't really watch them so I can't really say much. I do know that "This is America" won song of the year. I like it but there were better songs released this year.

The Grammys started to go downhill when Jethro Tull was at least nominated for something they shouldn't have.

Come on, a flute is a heavy, metal instrument!

RGT - if you're a fan, why not watching? For hard rock/heavy metal fans like me, it's never been worth watching since 1992 or so. I won't knock it though, it's just not geared for fans like me.

Tull actually won(!!!) a Grammy in 1989 for best hard rock/metal recording, over Metallica and Jane's Addiction. The thought of them winning a in category which they did not fall into was so absurd that the band was told to not bother coming to the ceremony (which they did not).

When one of the two bands finally won a Grammy (I think it was Metallica), they thanked Jethro Tull for not releasing an album that year.

The Grammys have always been a little slow to embrace new genres.  They ignored disco until it was on its way out, and acknowledged it by having John Denver (!) cover Stayin' Alive.

I can see why Lady Gaga chose not to go to the BAFTAs* - she won big at the Grammys, where she only won one at the BAFTAs (and only nominated twice) - but that win in London does suggest she'll add the O (for original song, not acting) to her Gs on Sunday - just the Emmy (3 personal nominations so far, for televised special events) and Tony (Broadway is clearly where her career ought to go at some point) to go for that EGOT - the only thing that gives Grammys worth!

*she did have the decency to video link in to receive her award before going to the Grammys.

I agree - she borders on performance artistry as it is, so it seems like her catalogue is tailor-made for a jukebox musical.

Nominated, hell ... they friggin' won 'best heavy metal' over Metallica nad Queensryche, both of whom had best-selling albums that year!  I have never bothered with the Crappys since then.
Don’t ask me how I know.  Just understand that I do.

I don't really care about what songs win what awards.

Sorry, I tend to run out of gag ideas on occasion.

Hot Rod Hootenanny

Better question could be which era of the Grammys best represented "popular" music.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

Punch Brothers deservedly won one, the rest I don't care about. Usually I'm interested in the Indie awards but I'm not a big fan of St. Vincent so I wasn't thrilled about it this year.

Weird Al won, and that's all I care about
I'm never wrong, just wildly inaccurate.

SectorZ

Did Jack Black win another metal one for a parody song again?

Didn't even watch... Oops
