Quote from: The Ghostbuster on Today at 11:38:40 AMWith a $50 billion dollar price tag, maybe they can get Elon Musk to fund it. Otherwise, I don't see it being funded or constructed any other way (not that it was going to anyway).
I'm surprised that people keep proposing it over and over.

It will happen when it happens.  Right now NY wants Syracuse to return to the pre interstate days because of the neighborhoods split by I-81 chosen to be built by our ancestors.

Well, just to say that someone on here will soon post about another thread dedicated to US and state mixup shields and give you a heads up with possibly a moderator, as well, moving your post to that dedicated thread as well.

Me personally don't  mind this here, but we have a few people who do mind.

I took a look at the DVRPC's draft TIP for 2027, and if I'm looking at it correctly, I noticed a major change. They had been planning to rehab the US 202 interchange with High Street just south of West Chester to add a second lane for 202 south, but this here now also calls for turning the nearby traffic light with Matlack Street on 202 into a fully-graded interchange, with 202 having a bridge over Matlack Street. Many have wondered why this wasn't already an interchange from the start, but I'm certainly interested how they are going to pull this off, as it would almost certainly have to involve a long-term closure of 202.

We can remain on US 250 from Elkins and travel to Ashland, Ohio.  Taken on I-71, June 1, 2009.  Specifically not Wooster since a similar sign was previously played for US 250 to Wooster.

They don't even need to do that. Just don't take down the barricades on the ramps that lead to the bridge. And if the State tried to do it, I'm sure the Feds would jump all over them.

The NJ Turnpike has released renderings of modifications to Interchanges 3 and 4.

Interchange 3's changes involve the connection with NJ 168.  The preliminary changes will eliminate the direct ramp from the toll plaza to 168 North, and instead replace it with a longer, 2 lane roadway that connects into the intersection of 168 and Benigno Blvd. 2 hotels just off the Turnpike will be taken to accomplish this.

Interchange 4's changes will be a 2 lane ramp from the toll plaza to the Turnpike Northbound, and a 2 lane ramp from the Turnpike Southbound to the toll plaza.

The current timeline for construction appears to be starting in 2027.  Some documents the Turnpike has online says 2026, but their schedule slide graphic now indicates 2027.

Quote from: hbelkins on Today at 02:43:22 PMI don't think I've ever seen any photos of US 48 signed as such in West Virginia or Maryland. I was on it twice -- the early 1980s on a family vacation to DC, the Eastern Shore and Virginia Beach; and December 1991 on a trip to Norfolk, Atlantic City, and DC; the latter when the final stages of its conversion to I-68 between Hancock and Cumberland was under construction. I don't remember if US 48 was signed all the way to I-70, or if it was truncated somewhere to the west. If anyone has photos, post them or link to them.

On a completely unrelated subject, I'm looking for potential routes from here to the city with which I share a name that don't include traversing that cluster foxtrot that is Charleston and all the bridge construction. The obvious route is WV 2 to either US 33 or US 50, but if there was a good way to bypass Charleston by leaving I-64 somewhere around Nitro and entering I-79 somewhere around Elkview, I'd consider that.

The other option is WV 97/Wv 10/WV 16/WV 54/WV 121 through the southern part of the state to Beckley, and then Corridor L north, but I'd probably be reversing that route back to Summersville after leaving Elkins, so that's not really a route I'd like to go with.

All you WV experts, put your heads together and give me suggestions. I'm looking at a Thursday departure.

Hate to route you into another state, but have you ever considered OH-7 up to US-50 Blennerhasset?  Given that WV-2 is now much faster on the West Virginia side between Huntington and Gallipolis Ferry, you might want to avoid the urban part of OH-7.  Just make sure that when you need gas or food, cross back over into West Virginia.
