I'm on Facebook to track news from my church, my gym, and the brewery down the street. About 5% of my friends make up about 90% of the posts on my feed. About a third post every so often. Most rarely, if ever post, any longer.

I haven't checked in a while, but the last time I tried checking my "news feed" there were no posts from people on my friends list, only "suggested for you" garbage.

I get plenty of posts from my immediate family on my feed.  I also usually end up muting most of them for 30 days given they tend to have annoying political opinions.

My sister posts all the time, but it never shows up on the news feed. I have to go to her profile to see what she's posted.

There is an extension called fbpurity.com that works on several browsers. It is customizable but I mainly use it to filter out sponsored and "suggested for you" posts.

I do rely heavily on FB Purity.  As it is not available on any mobile operating systems, I try to avoid pulling up my Facebook feed on my phone.

Facebook does help me stay in touch with out-of-town relatives and friends.  In spite of the now-discontinued efforts to tamp down misinformation and prevent it being used as another Radio Mille Collines, I've always felt it would be insane to trust it as a news source.

I formed my sense of self before Web-based social media came into being, and at this stage I have enough life experience both to have a sense of whether a given post offers a highly curated view of someone's life and to realize that fretting over FOMO is not worth my sanity.  I really feel for the younger generations, who have to try to work all of this out while riding the tiger.

Wow.  F.B. Purity has now changed my life.

I will admit that I primarily use Facebook for the local railfanning groups on there. Don't really use it too much otherwise, however.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

Clear your cookies and your cache and try again. Or open a private/incognito browser window and try it.

Ha! Probably true.

At least my family and friends know I am still alive and well.  :spin:
