I never thought I'd get to 10,000 posts and now I have that stupid rank marker. It'd be better if it was road related.
Roman Road?
Here's my attempt at this, kind of like a progression from your home as you embark on a cross-country trip:
1-2 Driveway
3-9 Cul-de-sac
10-24 Local street
25-49 Collector
50-99 Arterial
100-249 Main street
250-499 County road
500-999 State highway
1000-2499 US highway
2500-4999 Expressway
5000-9999 Turnpike
10000-14999 Freeway
15000- 19999 Interstate
20000+ Likes the forum way, way too much
If you listen to a particular sect of road cultists the top rank here ought to be Beaver Nuggets.
On a more serious side, Forest Service Road seems like a layup ranking that wasn't utilized.

At least one of the possibilities listed in this thread is already in use for a rank level nobody has reached yet.
"Likes the forum way, way too much" was originally added when the forum was new enough that 10,000 posts seemed like a ridiculous number of posts for someone to have. It was sort of meant to be an Easter egg in that way. We've never changed it since then.

Dare I say autobahn? Seems like a natural next step up from Interstate.
This complaint sounds like the people on social forums who, just after having a baby, suddenly complains that vehicles are too loud, fireworks are going off, friends and family should schedule their gatherings around the baby's nap time, and everything we all know needs to change because of the baby.
The marker is what it is. If someone wants it changed, they should've petitioned the admins when it didn't affect them.

So I may still say that I don't quite like it?
I remember when I joined, there was a discussion about first user reaching "way too much" and if it is a personal marker or just about leader reaching certain milestone.
Few years later, the joke repeated 20+ times (as in 20+ users with the badge) is no longer funny.
More like "Been Online Way, Way, Too Long"...

Concur with this. I'm not a big fan of the badge either - the text is OK, but the giant smiley is excessive now that 20+ users have reached that level. And "way, way too much" is a relative term, so its value continues to go down with every user that reaches that rank.

I've never been caught up in the post count wars, but I'm curious to know which member reached that rank the soonest after joining.
I admit to being a bit surprised to see that webny99 is a member of that club, given that it doesn't seem he's been a member that long.

And roadgeekteen hit 10,000 some time ago - probably a year or more - so to HB's question, he definitely got there faster than me.
I don't think it's to my credit to have reached 10,000 in ~5 years, by the way. I acknowledge that I
do "like the forum way, way, too much", so if the badge is true of anyone that has it, it's probably me. And it's not for lack of trying not to like it, but it's addicting, and the past few years haven't helped either. Also worth noting that I've deleted a number of posts, with the most recent deletions being focused on removing whatever old posts I thought were unnecessary/spammy/low quality, speaking of which...

But it's still relative to other users. Admittedly, some users, including myself, liked the forum too much long before earning the badge. But now, almost 1/3 of all posts on the forum have the badge, so what value does it really hold? Actually, it's the only point of the badges. To the beginner or novice, it probably means how much you'd value the opinion or facts coming from that/those responding user(s).
I'm not really too concerned with the badges but it helps denote a new member to welcome (or to be wary of if the topic is especially weird). But I'm also not dismissing an opinion out of hand because someone is an Arterial or C/D Ramp rank.

Man, I've been here just over 5 years, and I have 971 posts (at time of posting). The thought of getting 10,000 posts on here is insane. And yet, somehow I am still a pretty active member, being in the top 6% of all members in terms of post number. And according to the site, I have been actively logged in on here for 2 weeks, with an average if 0.516 posts per day. Anyone with 10,000 posts want to share their average daily posts, and logged-in time? (kphoger?)

This forum is my default page on the internet that I check constantly. I have the highest or second highest logged in time (AnthonyJK might be ahead of me), with 701 days. Basically, I make sure to check at least once per hour, and often much more often than that, when I'm home. It considers you logged in continuously as long as you don't have a 15-minute gap. It also helps that I continue to use the forum when in class (my computer was also for taking notes and sometimes looking up online things that the professor mentioned), and my internship (and my job coming soon) is from home, in addition to not taking long road trips nearly as much as other members here because I don't drive.
That said, my post count per day is 3.660; it was in the 5 range for a while, but it's decreased. It definitely feels like more than that, especially since most of my posts are short (this one is an exception), but I guess I often read without posting.
I joined in August 2013; the forum started in January 2009.
Seems mine is somehow 8.198 posts a day. Apparently I've been logged for 346 days cumulatively.
I telecommute and I leave the forum running on my home PC and look at it periodically when I want to take a break or when I'm waiting for a document to print or similar (as is the case as I type this).
Posts = 22172 (5.757 posts per day)
Total time logged in: 158 days, 46 minutes
I don't really know how it counts the time logged in. I commonly keep this page up nonstop at work, and then post while I'm in between tasks. Even if I'm just waiting for some data to finish downloading, I might make one post while it runs.

Any time you load a page, it checks to see if it's been within 15m. If it's below 15m, it adds to your logged in time. Over 15m, it doesn't count, and the timer resets.

Geary County Rural Secondary Route

Because then it will roll over and become negative. (I don't think the forum software actually does this, though.)
I am legitimately wondering if users with negative post counts see ads the same way 0-2 does, though.

If the forum software uses a 16 bit integer for post count, since post count cannot be negative (save for pranks pulled by mods), maybe they would choose to use an unsigned 16 bit integer. Then we only have to wait for someone to pass 65,535, rather than 32,767.
Although I can't see a compelling reason not to use 32 bits here. Another board I frequent uses (I believe) the same software, and plenty of users there have much larger post counts (I've seen as high as 70K).

Are there any differences in look of forum in different ranks?

Legend has it, when you get to 50,000, the forum will write your posts for you.
Otherwise, no. There's no new forum features except for mods and admins... I think. I've always wondered who could add things to the Gallery, but I'm guessing that's not available for regular users.

I've been able to since it was introduced, but I have no idea how I got that privilege.

Mods can build new islands, but only Admins can put them up for sale after construction ends.

That's a joke! What features are exclusive for mods and admins in real world?
Real-world mods and admins? One example is turning back time when a disaster occurs. For example, April 10, 2016 would have had a 9/11-like event on DC's buildings if admins didn't turn back time and let time run its course in a different way (there's always random variation when you redo a day). The reason 9/11 itself wasn't prevented was because there was also a hurricane headed for NYC that day, and there was miscommunication between different groups of admins regarding 9/11 and the Hurricane Deflection Team, plus restarting the day 20+ times never got rid of 9/11 entirely but only changed its severity.
Admins can theoretically erase someone from existence, but it almost never gets done because the admin's approval rating will take a hit.
Santa would not be able to deliver billions of gifts in 24 hours (due to time zones) without the help of real-world admins.

Probably just typical forum management tools. Threads can also be moved between boards or merged.
Admins are another story with what they can do.

There could be a special "Likes the forum way, way too much" subforum for members over 10,000 posts.
Why?
I want to point out that Reddit's r/lounge, which requires real money (either yourself or one of your comments was gilded), is absolutely useless. There is no point in a 10000+ post board.

Why?
Because it would give one benefit.
What benefit?
I bet the only thread in that special secret forum would be called something like "Let's all gripe about the latest troll", and the only advantage would be that you couldn't respond.
We are not adding any ranks or features for ranks at this time. The ranks are meaningless fluff that is meant to be a little bit of fun. Even typing out a list of what they are now is spending more time on them than they deserve, much less inventing new ones.
If you have any questions about the admin/moderator feature set, please read the documentation for Simple Machines Forum.
