I telecommute and I leave the forum running on my home PC and look at it periodically when I want to take a break or when I'm waiting for a document to print or similar (as is the case as I type this).

Posts = 22172 (5.757 posts per day)

Total time logged in:  158 days, 46 minutes

I don't really know how it counts the time logged in.  I commonly keep this page up nonstop at work, and then post while I'm in between tasks.  Even if I'm just waiting for some data to finish downloading, I might make one post while it runs.

I don't really know how it counts the time logged in.

Any time you load a page, it checks to see if it's been within 15m.  If it's below 15m, it adds to your logged in time.  Over 15m, it doesn't count, and the timer resets.

Why not just change the goalpost lines?  That way you could use the existing badges but have different intervals per badge.

Parking Lot is now 0 -> 100,000 posts.  :bigass:

Which probably explains the time I have.  I have the forum up at work also, but I hit “show replies to your posts” quite a bit when I’m bored (which is frequent).

Same here:

click to download data from MSO
check for unread posts while it runs
work with data to prepare for upload
click to upload data to internal WMS
check for unread posts while it runs
click to run report in WMS
check for unread posts while it runs

If all of those are <15 minutes, then it apparently counts that as "being logged in" the whole time.

Something like a "roundabout lover" would work just great for 10k, and easter egg   can go to 25k (or that is where surprise awaits anyway?)

Uh, no. I will request that my post count be set back to zero if that happens. I refuse to be called a "roundabout lover." "Roundabout loather," yes.

I still think there should be hidden ranks for exact numbers such as 238. I've already seen it on other forums.

Just "Roundabout", then.  I mean, I don't particularly like turnpikes, but that's a rank, isn't it?

My post per day average is just under 6.4 posts a day- a lot, only Max has a higher average than me. But I also take frequent breaks from the forum.

Here's my attempt at this, kind of like a progression from your home as you embark on a cross-country trip:

1-2 Driveway
3-9 Cul-de-sac
10-24 Local street
25-49 Collector
50-99 Arterial
100-249 Main street
250-499 County road
500-999 State highway
1000-2499 US highway
2500-4999 Expressway
5000-9999 Turnpike
10000-14999 Freeway
15000- 19999 Interstate

Or we could go über-geeky, and have things like...

Virginia F-series Route
Alternate US Bicycle Route
ISTEA High Priority Corridor Concurrency
Geary County Rural Secondary Route

Why?

Because then it will roll over and become negative. (I don't think the forum software actually does this, though.)

I am legitimately wondering if users with negative post counts see ads the same way 0-2 does, though.

If the forum software uses a 16 bit integer for post count, since post count cannot be negative (save for pranks pulled by mods), maybe they would choose to use an unsigned 16 bit integer.  Then we only have to wait for someone to pass 65,535, rather than 32,767.

Although I can't see a compelling reason not to use 32 bits here.  Another board I frequent uses (I believe) the same software, and plenty of users there have much larger post counts (I've seen as high as 70K).

Are there any differences in look of forum in different ranks?

Legend has it, when you get to 50,000, the forum will write your posts for you.

Otherwise, no. There's no new forum features except for mods and admins... I think. I've always wondered who could add things to the Gallery, but I'm guessing that's not available for regular users.

Mods can build new islands, but only Admins can put them up for sale after construction ends.
