My home town is at 1,371 feet ASL, but I regularly drive down to an elevation of 633 feet just 8  miles away as the crow flies. Only sometimes do I notice my ears popping on the way home, but when I do, it's usually in the same location.

My ears have gotten really good at noticing elevation changes. Going up or down the ~50 ft hill (which to be fair is pretty steep) in/out of my neighborhood, I can usually feel a tickle in my ear.

And mine are the opposite. Driving up to the mountains or taking a flight, I don't notice a thing.
