what is your favorite photo of a road you've ever taken?

I've got several but this one always seems to come to the forefront.  I love how the colors came out on this one.  It's a long-exposure photo and I illuminated the trees using an incandescent flashlight.  I think the whole thing is about a 20 or 30 second exposure, with moonlight on the clouds.  I certainly know it was well past midnight when I got to this section of highway!

US-97 in Washington - old Blewitt pass, not maintained since 1964.  I drove it in October, 2007, in the dead of night.  Here is the beginning of the pass, not long after the road splits off modern US-97, with a much more reasonable mountain crossing.  Note the old white middle stripe on this road.

After this, it kept going up.  31 degrees, fog settling, a mountain on one side and a cliff drop on the other, and elk, elk, elk everywhere!  I loved this drive because it was so uncertain - would there be a rockslide around the next bend preventing my further passage?  Would I have to back out, driving a mountain pass in reverse until I found a stretch suitably wide in which to turn around?  I was hoping I could go up the mountain and come back down and rejoin the modern road without incident, and I certainly wasn't sure if I could do such a thing.

and, hey, look at those bright yellows and oranges of the fallen leaves!

I don't take the time you do, but this is probably my #1 - I-190's southern bridge onto Grand Island.  www.alpsroads.net/roads/ny/i-190/sgrand.jpg

That's a tough one.  Few of mine are artistic by any means, but here are a few of by favorites:

OK, so it's a "marine highway" not a regular highway, but a favorite - taken from the M/V Matanuska departing Skagway, AK:

wow damn I surely gotta drive the Alaska Highway in BC and Yukon!

here is my one Denali photo ... from about 300 miles away, even!  At sunset, under maximum zoom on my 200mm lens.

the next day, when I tried to spot it, it was hidden under low clouds.

I have driven the entire Alaska Highway.  I highly recommend the trip.  I even had to stop to allow a heard of Buffalo cross the road in northern British Columbia while on the Alaska Highway.

The best highway scene I ever saw, Interstate 70 ascending the San Rafael Reef.

Sideling Hill on I-68 is pretty, too - at least for the East Coast.  http://www.alpsroads.net/roads/md/i-68/sh3.jpg

Freeway with mountains off in the distance is nice. Though, freeway with city off in the distance has its own appeal. Take this shot of I-95 in Stamford:

Photo quality could be a little better, but it's still a great shot. Got a bit of a single point perspective going there.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.
