I don't think I'll be near a route 554 anytime soon, so it might be a while...

...oddly, I didn't know Florida 549 existed until about 10 days ago.

It looks like in the US, you can choose between LA 554 and PA 554.

I don't know how accurate it is, but Wikipedia has pages "List of highways numbered xxx" for all the numbers we are chasing.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

That's what I've been using.  I thought I had a 361 in Minnesota because of that, but alas it has been decommissioned and not marked as such on the 361 Wikipage.

Not 100% accurate.  Was looking for a 148 recently; the closest listed one to me was a short VA 148 in Virginia.  But during a recent road trip I passed right by a NC 148 which wasn't on the Wikipedia page.  Fortunately I had the presence of mind to snag it.

To user Jim - might it be possible to provide a way to search the database for occurrences of a specified number?  Looking for a 167 right about now :)

There are actually quite a number of 167s around the country.

Thanks for the suggestions, although I've pretty much settled on VA 167 as the least annoying "167" to get.  It's just off I-81 near Roanoke, which is reasonable for me to travel.  Other 167's that may be closer are out in the middle of East B.F.

My lowest-numbered untraveled route is now 609. My latest trip to Louisiana, via Ohio, filled in all my gaps in the high 500s. It helped that all the routes I needed in Louisiana were in the northern part of the state, with three intersecting US 425 which was part of my route to the New Orleans area.

In the 600s, I'm including Virginia SR 606 near Dulles Airport. That was a road I long ago traveled at high speeds, when I was young and stupid, and before new development north of the airport made it less speeder-friendly. I'm also including two SR 600s, which are continuations of two primary Virginia routes. I mostly likely drove part of one or both SR 600s before I realized the route number had changed, and turned around.

If Mapmikey can get his lowest untraveled route into the 600s, he might be able to quickly overtake me, since I think he's more extensively covered the Virginia secondary routes than I have.

it'll be a while...I'm missing 54 different numbers to reach 600.  But yes, if I get there, I will rocket through the 600s and a lot of 700s, too.

I looked back at my New England trip from June and realized I got a 107 in New Hampshire, so I'm at 108 right now.

Have a couple trips planned that would net me 108, 125, 133, 147 and 154 in Illinois, so I'd then be up to 174.

As an Illinois resident, good luck with the 174 when you get to it.  I took a detour in south-central Virginia to get my 174.  I don't think there's another 174 anywhere in IN-MI-IL-WI...OH has one in the northeast part of the state.
